It isn't about Lupin, but maybe someone would know something about it?
I have a friend who I share alot of my accounts with.. and she's afraid of bootlegs cause she thinks alot of them have dangerous things in them. I also saw someone talking about this the other day on forums.
So, I was wondering... Are bootlegs known to have dangerous things? I think the counterfeit plushies are, but I've never heard that with DVDs.

Bootleg DVDs are normally just really bad quality with really poor subtitles. I saw Descendants of Darkness in bootleg form. I didn't buy it. The subs were great for the first three shows and then it was broken English. You knew what they were saying kind of.
I never heard of like poison or anything being put on a bootleg DVD. Sometimes you may order the wrong thing and you might get hentai when you just wanted the series. Like if a DVD is marked Sailor Moon make sure it says which series and season it is. Because you don't want to be looking for the Sailor Star seasons and then get Sailor Moon and the 7 Dragonballs.
And of course they are bootleg and if someone owns the copyright in your country you can get fined and get the DVD taken away if you are really really unlucky. This is very rare but have to be aware of it.

I see.. That's a scary thought.
As for copyright, I don't see many bootlegs for things already in English, but I suppose you should always look out for that stuff. I think if you buy a bootleg, you should buy the American release, so I don't think it would be a problem for me..
Well, I guess people will be paranoid about things.

I normally do buy the American releases anyways. Because I am one of those rare people who like the dubs. Also, finding and downloading movies that haven't be released in America is a pain that can take hours.
The only good thing about bootlegs is if you make a music video with clips from a non-American release movie they won't delete it off of YouTube. Um, not that I know or anything. XD
