i live in the south where it gets extremely hot in the summertime. i had put on some tights the other day but my dad made my take them off because he was afraid i'd get a heatstroke x.x
so i was wondering if if was ok to wear lacey short socks (bobby socks i think?) with lolita as long as you're not going full-out lolita...maybe just casual.

It was about 90 degrees and I was in the sun in blackxwhite with blackxwhite BABY knee-high socks.
I think it'd be good enough. Though, I would prefer not to wear them because they bring out the calves too much.

I just suffer. I'm in Southern CA so it gets pretty hot here too. I still wear knee socks in 100+ degree weather. Just maybe bright a bottle of cold water around with you so you wont get over heated.
I really have never seen a good loli with ankle socks :/ it sorta just looks funny.

Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. If you want to wear ankle socks, wear ankle socks.

I only wear knee socks o__O;;...because the whole point of loli and the socks is that they are seen.If the socks weren't meant to be seen,well they wouldn't be such a big part of the lolioutfit.

I live in the south too. Lately it's been over 100 degrees in FL. >_<
And everyday I'm out in black skirts and long sleeve shirts with thick opaque black stockings. I do just fine. I stay in the shade and drink a lot (sweet tea and water, not alcohol).
You should be ok, just think of the clothes upper class ladies wore in the 1850s. And they didn't have air conditioners.
But if you really wanna wear bobby socks, go ahead.

The only thing with ankle-length socks would be... if you do wear them, try and find ones that aren't flat out Hanes.
I found some cute thin pink ankle-lenth socks at Wal-Mart.... I luff Wal-Mart...

I live in the south as well.
I think wearing ankle socks would be very cute for a sweet lolita in the summer.

I say it would be ok, even with a nice lolita dress, but if you prefer, maybe try a thinner full leg leotard (is that what they are called?), that might be less hot.

I would highly suggest wearing some thin-ish knee-highs. they dont completely cover your leg, but they dont show your calves.

Try finding some cute ones with lace along the top. You can pull it off if you try hard enough.

It would be alright, I think. I prefer wearing knee highs all the time, but it does get hot real quickly, especially when you're wearing a petticoat and bloomers in 95+ degree weather. 0-0 Do what makes you feel most comfortable. ^^
