Officials in Beijing have starting banning horror stories based on the Death Note series, including Internet-based fanworks and small-press publications. Similar bannings took place elsewhere in China in 2005, when school officials noticed that students were writing the names of people they disliked on specialty paper, pretending that they were marked for death. Man! That does suck... but then again, it's the kids' fault for doing that. Many kids like to make Death Notes and put names in them. They then brag to their friends about them and then that gets around to a teacher or something. Even though I feel bad for them, it's still their fault...
