All right, I have a few connections that you might or might not find interesting. Also, this is all my opinion, so if you disagree or find something insulting, say so or state your reasonings.
In the fanfiction I find, most of the storylines are extremely redundant. What I don't find is thought-out storylines that actually connect to the characters and the plot. Or, at least, not very often do I find them.
So here are some ideas that I have yet to see:
Connecting Alice's lack of seeing Jacob, (perhaps the whole pack, but that's not quite stated), for a complex plan to "save" Bella from the "blood-suckers." A.K.A. kidnapping.
Bella is changed, not by Edward, by perhaps Victoria or another hostile party on accident, (meaning that a friendly party either saved her from dying or something else related).
After being bitten, Bella is separated from Edward by either Alice or Carlisle. If Edward is around during the transformation, how will that effect the relationship? It would probably put a strain on it and it's something Edward would never forget, (which wouldn't be healthy to linger on negative things in a relationship). For the time after the change, Bella is still separated from Edward to learn how to control herself and so on.
The mental impact of being changed into a vampire. I honestly want to see this; all I see is the physical changes which, in my opinion, could be done better in some cases. Would Bella remember her past after that painful experience or would it slowly return to her? Would she remember the transformation, ("I've always been good at forgetting unwanted thoughts," or something of the like)? How long does it take her to adjust to her "new" body, if ever? How do the others react to her? What would the excuse/cause of her "disappearance?" And so on.
Jacob. Another mental impact story. How does he take it all, (well, negatively, yes, but why)? And the myths, how does he react when he realizes that they're real? The inner turmoil after realizing Bella wished to be one of his "enemies" and his thoughts or plans on how to prevent it, ('cause you know he'd think of something like that).
The Volturi, what are they like? Their pasts, workings, personalities? What are they like to you?
And the most important; an overall questioning of the vampires and werewolves. Why are they arguing? Could it be because of something that happened a long time ago? What triggers the transformation of a werewolf; a vampire attack near a person with the werewolf gene or simply the pretense? Why do the vampires desire human blood? And do the werewolves also have a dependence on something like the vampires do on blood? Is there another way to be turned into a werewolf other than genetics? The lifespan of a werewolf, is it shorter or longer than average or just plain average?

I suppose this is a challenge to think. Of course, all ideas are up for grabs that are provided by me, but the real reason behind this is:
Do you have a question like these? Well, if you do, write it down, share, or write a story about in attempt to answer it.
A story that has a purpose or a question in it seems like a much more worthwhile read than a story with a redunant and out-of-proportion thought.. Or to me, anyways.
