Poutine is a Quebecois junk dish comprised of poutine (basic brown) sauce, french fries and cheese. (normally in curds)

Cover a large plate with grated mozzarella. Ontop of the mozzarella in the center put a large scoop of tzadiki. (greek sour cream)
Ontop of this put the cheese curds.

Before putting your fries (ridged) in the oven, coat them with a bit of veggie oil and sprinkle with salt and bake until crisped but not crunchy.

Heat a can of poutine sauce in a saucepan.

Put the fries on top of the pile of dairy on the plates and pour the poutine sauce over the lot, and top with some salt and a lot of cayenne pepper.
(don't drown your fries!)

Let the base melt and mix with fork.
Mange, tabarnak.

I would like to know too. Is it something we can possibly get in an Asian market place?

Ok...couldn’t wait for a reply on this because it got my curiosity so I did some searching on this. Says it’s served in different countries but is more of a dish from Canada. I found recipes for it online in different versions. What i found about the sauce is that in Canada the gravy, is also known as barbecue chicken gravy, is darker and thicker than gravy in America or other countries, and must be served very hot. I found out you can by the sauce online but the cheese they use in Canada is not found in the USA. For USA substitution they suggested that cubed white cheddar cheese works best. The other thing is its best when you cook the fries that you use Lard instead of Veg. or other oils.

I am going to have to try this. I grew up in Maine and was familiar with French fries and gravy but never had it with cheese too. Also love fries and vinegar something that was brought from Canada as well into Maine. For those of you who say VINGAR?? loll if you like vinegar and salt chips then you will like the same flavor on fries. Yes its an acquired taste.

I AM CANADIAN!!
About the gravy: you can use any good gravy that you can find, or make. A brown one (beef) would be best. Try St. Huberts, or Swiss Chalet canned sauce.
About the cheese: The curds are a must. You can add to the ooooey goooey factor by using mozzerella, as someone already mentioned. However, to make it extra special, use SMOKED mozzerella.
Yum! Definitely a Quebec thing though!!!
Happy POUTINE-ING!!!

I usually use a beef based gravy for my poutine.
And I am a little bit disgusted by cheese curds, so I usually use freshly shredded mozzarella.
The wavy fries are a must. Straight cut are just... not the same.

One day, I had neither beef gravy nor mozza cheese, so I have my poutine with turkey gravy and cheddar...
It was actually delicious.

/long post.

Holy poutine sauce, I was a member of this guild a long time ago.

Poutine sauce is NOT oriental, you're not going to find it in asian markets. It's a lot like your basic chicken gravy sauce but not quite.
