So, I met this girl name Gloria a few months ago and we became very close. Well, yesterday I was wearing a Star of David and she got all strange around me. She started asking me questions like "Are you Jewish?" "You said you were german, how are you Jewish too". The thing is, is that she moved here from Germany three years ago. I don't know if she might be a part of some Nazi thing, but I'm kind of nervous around her now. I am half German, because my Grandfather came over here right before the whole Hitler Fiasco. What do I do?

Point out to her that even if you were Jewish, she still liked you. Use it as an example to educate her about how Jews aren't bad. o.o

If she doesn't like you because you're Jewish, she's not worth being friends with. I knew somebody like that.

Like Dis Donnu said, if you want to confront her about it, use it as an example of how she still liked you anyway. Watch how she acts first, that way you can see if she is acting odd. And if she can't accept you for who you are, he's not worth your friendship.

I don't want to say for certain what's going on, but it may not be that she's anti-Semitic. There aren't a whole lot of non-Jewish Germans who are aware of how many Jews there are still in Germany. Gloria may simply not know any Jews, and be curious about Jews. A lot of folks don't realize that "Jewish" names are often German, Polish, Russian, and Hungarian in origin.

Also, there are people who don't realize that a person can convert to Judaism. When we say we're Jewish, people often assume that we're pure, unadulterated Hebrews. The fact is, most of us are descended -- either recently or long ago -- from Egyptians, Persians, Africans of all areas and races, Asians, other Middle Eastern nationalities, Europeans, and yes, Native Americans. When we say, "I'm Dutch," or "I'm British," or "I'm Persian," those who don't realize that one can convert to Judaism automatically assume we're either confused or lying when we then say, "I'm Jewish." You can be a Jewish Italian, a French Jew, a Jewish Russian, a German Jew... But Gloria may not realize that, so she's curious and confused as to how it works.

Just asking if someone is Jewish doesn't make them anti-Semitic. Why should asking it with a German accent make them a Nazi? Certainly not all Germans are Nazis. Assuming that they are shows an anti-German sentiment. Examine your own preconceived notions as to what a German is, and then go to Gloria with information that will help her learn. THEN, if she exhibits anti-Jewish sentiments, remind her that she liked you, so therefore Jews must not be what she thought we were.

Divash is right, she may not be Anti-Semetic. When people find out I want to be Jewish, or I tell them I am Jewish, they often get nervous or don't know what to say, so they come off as offensive sometimes. I know a few people would never hate anyone, but when they see you wearing the Magen David they'll say something like,"Oh...Like Kyle", because they don't know what else to say.

Don't instantly accuse her of Nazism, though I'm sure you wouldn't, she may just not know how to react.

Or perhaps she's afraid you are sercetly loathing her for being German, since you are Jewish.

Chances are, if she were an Anti-Semite, she would have made her opinions known before now. (They usually can't keep their stupidity quiet)

If it turns out that she is anti-Semitic, though, then look her right in the eye and snap her off. Chances are you won't want to be friends with an anti-Semite.
