How to request to join this guild

If you would like to request to join this guild, the process is pretty simple.

DO NOT PM ANY OF THE CREW ASKING FOR AN INVITATION. You must perform a "Request to join" on the guild home page. If you do not know how to do this, I suggest you go to the Chatterbox forum and ask.

Read the rules before requesting to join (the rules are here). This is absolutely mandatory. If you don't read and understand the rules, your request will be denied. Note: I said read the rules, not "skim over" or "glance at" the rules. This is a literate guild, we expect our members to be literate - as in, they can read and comprehend.

Let me repeat this again. Go here, read both the Gaia rules and guidelines and the guild rules and guidelines carefully (that's this post and this post - only two posts! Read them both!). YOUR REQUEST WILL BE DENIED IF YOU DO NOT.

After you have read the rules, make a "Request to join" at the guild's homepage. In the box it gives you to give your reason, fill out our join request form and put it in there. This is our join request form and what we want in it:

Username: (We know this is obvious. Still, we'd like to see it there.)
Age: (Your real age. Don't put something stupid like "800 but looks 14".)
Gender: (Your real gender. Be honest, even if you want to roleplay as a girl but are not. And yes, I am aware of the difference between sex and gender, and I have specifically asked for the gender you identify yourself as.)
Roleplaying sample: (Either put a short sample here, or link to a post you have made somewhere in Gaia. All we need is one post, say eight or so sentences or more, that demonstrates how good you are with spelling and grammar, and how descriptive and insightful you are.)

Here's a handy-dandy form you can copy and paste:
Username:
Age:
Gender:
Roleplaying sample:

Copy and paste that, then fill it out, and put it in the reason box of your "Request to join".

That's it. Send that in, and if you have followed the instructions properly and read the rules, your join request will be considered. If not, it will be denied without even looking at it any further.

Note: If you have lied on your join request, we reserve the right to ban you at anytime we find that out. So don't lie.

How come I have not gotten a response to my request?

Have you applied to the guild but haven't heard anything in response? The first thing you should do is wait. Sometimes it takes a couple days. Unfortunately, Gaia does not give any obvious notice when someone makes a request, so I have to remember to go and check. Sometimes I forget for a day or two - it happens, just be patient.

If a couple days have passed and you haven't been accepted or denied, you can PM one of the crew to ask why your application hasn't been processed yet. You can PM any crew member, but I (Aenakume) am the one who is ultimately responsible for all join requests, so you might get faster service if you message me directly.

But before you message me, or any crew member, check first to make sure you have enough gold to meet the entry fee. The gold is not taken out of your account until I hit accept, so if you have plenty of gold when you apply, then you go on a shopping spree, there might not be enough in your account when I try to accept you. Until you get accepted or declined, try to keep enough gold in your account to meet the entry fee. I have had people who have been sitting in my accept bin for weeks, but I couldn't accept them because they never had enough gold on hand.

So, to sum up:

arrow Make sure you have enough gold at all times.

arrow Wait a couple days.

arrow PM a crew member to ask.

Why was my join request denied?

Did you apply to join this guild and get a notice saying your request was denied? The first thing you should do is find out why.

At the moment there are only three real reasons why your join request could have been denied.

arrow You did not read or follow the rules properly.

arrow You did not demonstrate sufficient literacy.

arrow Your entry was offensive in some way (bigoted, rude, or something like that).

As of the current writing (Jul-19) every single join request that was denied was denied because the person had not read or followed the rules properly. EVERY SINGLE GODDAMNED ONE. Take this as a hint. Read the rules carefully, and follow them!

You have a right to know why you were refused. For this you will have to contact a crew member and ask (crew members includes all crew members and the captian - see the first page of the guild members list for who the crew are). When contacting a crew member on guild business, you will have to follow the following rules:

arrow PM your question, concern or complaint to one and only one crew member (crew includes the captain) once.

arrow Never, ever, ever contact or harrass any members of the guild that are not crew. Never. Don't ask them to "put in a good word" for you or "explain" something for you. Never.

arrow Do not contact any crew member by any other means except Gaia PMs. Do not IM them. Do not jump into a conversation or roleplay they are having in some other forum.

arrow Send one PM to one crew member, and wait for a response. Do not send a crew member more than one PM without getting a response from them first.

arrow Do not send the same question, concern or complaint to more than one crew member.

arrow If the crew member you sent a PM to doesn't respond after 48 hours, then you may PM another, and make sure you mention that you already asked another crew and who it was that you asked.

If you fail to follow any of these rules, all communication with you will be terminated, and future requests from you ignored. RESPECT MY CREW and the other members of my guild or go somewhere else.

What to do if your request has been denied

Did you apply to join this guild and get a notice saying your request was denied? It's not the end of the world, there's still hope for you to join.

Here's the thing, if you have requested to join and been denied, then the only way you're going to get in is if you're invited. That takes up the crew's time and inboxes. As a result of that, it can take a lot longer for your request to be processed. It will be much quicker if you just get it right the first time.

Here's how to reapply after being denied:

arrow First, make sure you know why your original join request was denied. You are owed an explanation, so just PM any crew member and ask (follow the rules outlined above).

arrow If you think you were unfairly denied, you may PM the crew who informed you of the reason you were denied and say so (follow the rules outlined above). If they don't seem to care or if you disagree, you can bring it up with another crew member.

arrow Once you are satisfied that you know why you were denied, fill out a new join request form - this time fixing whatever the problem was. (Remember, if you were refused for not following the rules, you will have to pay a bigger entry fee.) PM that join request form to a crew member and wait (this takes a little time).

arrow You will be informed if your new request was accepted or denied, and if it was accepted, an invitation will follow.

arrow If you are refused again, you will have to start the process all over.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The content of this thread still applies to the guild (It is admittedly a bit outdated in a manner of speaking, but still applies fully)
