Liason work like an ALO? No thats sort of the black sheep of the Air Force... its only a career field in the ANG, and a volentary tour for active duty guys.
Air condition tents for three days, 2 bed suites for the remainder. It was pretty fluffy. By the end of it, my other Aggie buddy and the VMI guy in my flight we all decided that we should have either enlisted or joined the army. Air Force officership is nothing more than glorified mid level management. And I've seen cops wearing snappier uniforms than these Captains.
Now since you asked, if you have any infor on ALO's youve worked with I'd be more than happy to hear it. Right now to save my sanity after comissioning I'm pushing AFSOC or bust. Failing in that im going to volunteer as an ALO and try to just keep doing it.

Colonel Armstrong Liason work like an ALO? No thats sort of the black sheep of the Air Force... its only a career field in the ANG, and a volentary tour for active duty guys. Um, what's ALO? sweatdrop I can barely get the airforce ranking structure right (I've pissed this AF guy off once when I though his rank was a navy rank and called him a seaman), not to mention all that weird names you folks use. Quote: Air condition tents for three days, 2 bed suites for the remainder. It was pretty fluffy. By the end of it, my other Aggie buddy and the VMI guy in my flight we all decided that we should have either enlisted or joined the army. Good man! You've seen the Light! Quote: Air Force officership is nothing more than glorified mid level management. And I've seen cops wearing snappier uniforms than these Captains. Well, officers are the same in any branch, a stick of butter is a stick of butter, doesn't matter if you served it on a brown, green, white, or blue plate. sweatdrop Quote: Now since you asked, if you have any infor on ALO's youve worked with I'd be more than happy to hear it. Right now to save my sanity after comissioning I'm pushing AFSOC or bust. Failing in that im going to volunteer as an ALO and try to just keep doing it. After a short google, ALO seem to stand for both Air Liasion Officer and Admission Liason officer. I don't think I've worked with either one of them before.

Oh yeah, Air Liasion is what I was refering to. Hes the guy who is attatched to I guess Battalion staff and has a personal crew of Terminal Air Controllers or ROMADS for situations where... as the motto goes "when your all out of hua"
Im interested in it, but its only an active duty career for guard officers, but you can kinda vollunteer, then re-volunteer for it if your active in certain career fields.

Should be brigade staff at least, most BN don't have air assets. Can't tell you much about them, I do have a funny ancedote about how a ALO Maj who thought he could out HOOAH us groundpounders and left a truck full of crew-serve machineguns, encrypted radio, and field safe to be plundered by insurgents while he and his men tried to walk back to the camp after their truck got it. blaugh No, I don't have too good an impression of them. xp As for volunteering: That's a good way to make some extra $$$. As reserve/guard, if you have been on active duty for the same contingency for over 2 years (we lovingly call them Tour Babies, I'm one too), you are entitiles to an extra grand a month for your selfless service. Last I heard Sec. Rumsfield might not be extending that benefit, but I don't know for sure. Best wishes cadet, but I do hope you see the light and Go Army!
