Possibly the most retarded reg ever. I mean the commandant want sto promote recruitment and now its like he's limiting half of the rest of the Marine corps. I have a half sleeve that I can't finish now until I get out. Any body else think that this is retarded or is this one of my rants???

they have regs like that in the army too, but if you think about it they need people to join will they turn away someone with tattoos if they are desperate no. Cause actually your not supposed to get any tattoos while in the service, cause now your govt property. But honestly no one cares. And if you have any tattoos that you arent supposed to have (like on your neck) you can get waivers for that.

I know all about the Army regs and they have lightened them up, whilst the Marine Corps has tightened them. I am half tempted to go to the Army. The Army may waiver neck tatts, but I'm not so sure the Marine Corps will. There is the grandfather clause, which I have, but I am limited to where I go, as for the army, I have met COL. with full sleeves. That is why I am seriously debateing going hooah after college.

Sorry in advance since this is an old topic but I figured it being a tattoo topic and my question relating I should ask here.
I am still only seventeen, eighteen this summer. I was wondering what are the current rules on tattoos for the Marines?
I have not decided to join the Marines or any Armed Forces yet but I would like a tattoo sometime before I go if I decide to.

i understand that most of the rules are ******** stupid. but hell you have a job. you didnt join the corp to just get tats. your there to do a job not to get tats. hell just wait til you get out

Yes if you're going to cry about not being able to have sleeves, even though they look extremely unprofessional, then you should find a different branch, maybe civilian. I'd recommend sucking it up.
Man where just full of complainers these days, if I don't hear it at work I hear it here.

I think that tats are fine as long as they arent anarchist s**t. and you dont see them in uniform. sleeves? no, not for me. unproffessional looking as its been said, and they show with you uniform. now smaller tattoos like on your shoulder or something across your back? i think stuff like that is fine.

Quit your bitching marines. When a buddy of mine first told me to look up your new regs cuz it's "such bullshit" I ******** laughed in his face. There's nothing bullshit about it. If you join with a bunch of crazy tattoos it's fine because they're "grandfathered", but once you're in you can't get any. I don't have any tattoos, nor do I plan on ever getting one, but that was my understanding of the Army rules as they were explained to me way back at MEPS. Once you're in you can't get any tattoos that would be seen in uniform, sometimes even pts. I don't see what the big deal is. I've never thought sleeves made someone in the military look bad a**, to me they look unprofessional and sloppy. Plus there's the whole being an individual blah blah blah. You know the drill.
