How does Beyblading work? I have no idea

Is there a counter attack defence by just standing there not being moved. What's the science?

I don't quite understand the question.

I suppose it's like.. heavier, bulkier blades will move around the dish less, and so be more defensive than offensive. All in all I think real Beyblades are pretty random as to who wins, with blade weight and balancing features being a slight modifying factor as well.

But, I've never played with the toys myself. It's just theory and logic.

The heavier I make my Wyborg the longer it will spin for the same amount of energy it takes to launch. That's about all I know.

I use my blades as stress relief only though XD

Hmm...I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can.

In a Beyblade battle (Beybattle, as called in the series and manga), there are two ways to win: you either a. knock your opponent's blade out of the dish; or b. your blade spins longer than your opponent's.

Also, there are 3 different factors that can affect the outcome of a battle.

1. Launch - First off, the strength of your launch determines how long your blade will spin, and to some extent how fast it will move around the dish. There are different types of launches, too, and if you manage to pull them off, they'll affect the outcome as well. I, for example, use a varied variation of the Flame Arrow launch combined with a variation of the Bearing launch works wonders if you want a quick match. I'll explain in a later post if anyone wants additional information on this.

2. Beyblade type - You must choose your basic blade type based on your personal strategy. Say, for example, you're a defensive sort, yet you chose, say Seaborg or another offensive-type blade. You'd be hard-pressed to find a good strategy during a match because you and your blade 'clash'. If you don't know your personal style, then try out a couple of blades and choose which one you're more comfortable battling with.

3. Customization - A well-customized blade is your best friend in a battle. As long as you know what you want out of it - offense, defense, endurance, speed, or a combination - you'll most likely be able to get the results you wanted in battle. For instance, I work best with a combination blade that focuses on offense and endurance, so I replaced the factory-provided weight disk of my Dranzer F with one that was a size 5, 8-cornered, I believe. This upped its stats (observed and recorded) from ATK=4 DEF=2 END=3 to a whopping ATK=4 DEF=3 END=4. And that was just from changing the weight disk! You can also change the blade base and tip to suit your strategy, like using a flame change base like that of Dranzer's so you can switch between offensive, defensive, and endurance modes, depending on how hard your blade was hit and on what setting you had the base in last.

Take note, all this was gathered from experience and observation. You can see a lot of this in play during tournaments - modified launches, different blade part combinations, etc. I had the chance to go to one myself...and unfortunately (for me) still have the distinction of being the undefeated - and first female - local champion in my hometown. I'm not bragging, just stating facts, in case anyone was wondering if my information is just made-up stuff.

Anyway, feel free to ask other questions, if you have any. As I said, I'll try my best to help.

How about speed? I don't really play. Just role play wise.

If we're talking in terms of a Beyblade roleplay, then it's actually up to you on how to describe your blade's speed.

In terms of a real Beybatte, the strength and type of launch are both factors in a Beyblade's speed (see my first post). Certain launches add to the speed, but cause a certain loss of control - from losing a bit of control to the blade going absolutely nuts in the dish - and others leave don't compromise control, yet do nothing to improve the blade's speed.
