I've always wanted to attempt a social experiment. Basically as of right now, I am overweight-obese, not sure what I am. But anyways, summer vacation is almost here and I've noticed how people have treated me when I was overweight. I want to become anorexic for the three months we have off and come back much thinner. Of course I would have to see a doctor and make sure I'm not going to die from this or anything, but I just want to see if I could change the views in my school, and make people realize that if I'm thin, I'm literally starving and possibly dying, and they shouldn't bother me so much about my weight. Any feedback? Ideas? Is this just plain stupid?

It's just not healthy to become anorexic, hon. Bad idea!

I know, that's the point, so people realize that because of the way they look at people, anorexia gets caused and people end up hurt. I just want them to see it first hand.

Not only is that an unhealthy idea, but no doctor would agree to help you become anorexic.

You can't teach everyone something that they are not ready to learn. If you go to school with immature people who judge others based on looks, you just have wait and see if they mature. You can't shove it in their face if they are not ready for it.

If they are making fun of people, I am sure they realize that they are hurting people's feelings. That's kind of the point. That's what they want to do. So if you prove to them that they do, in fact, hurt your feelings enough for you to try to change for them, my guess would be that they tease you a heck of a lot more.

Ahh ok, so it's a bad idea. I still want to perform a social experiment....any ideas?

That's great that you want to do some experiments. I would suggest maybe looking through some things on the internet about experiments. You can find some research articles and the like.

If you are in school and have a sociology or psychology class, you could talk to the teacher for some tips, guidance, and ideas. If you take a class like that, you actually might be able to get some extra credit for doing an experiment.

You should probably start out with something rather small. For example, in intro psych classes, the teachers will often have the students do something like just practice watching people and recording data. In college, they had us sit outside of public places. My class had to watch when two people came to a door and record whether the taller or shorter person opened the door to test the hypothesis that taller people will take charge and open the door more often. Another class had to watch the way males and females carried books to see if there were any differences.

If you are in college or planning on going to college, then you can probably get involved in some research there.
