I don't quite know what you're referring to, but if you have an example of what you're looking for I can try to help you search (and I know people with computer programs that help chart out patterns for knitting)

here is a picture... keep in mind that my computer has dail-up and youtube, and the audio card and the video card are fried...  and i can't change colours very well....

I just tried using this page to make a chart with that image, and it worked okay. It produces a PDF version of the image with a grid overlay.

ther eis one program that you can dowload, unforntally i dont remember what it was, but you can convert the picture you want into a sewing guideline or something like that, but you can always widen and play with the options or soemthing like that, sorry i dont remember, but search around, there is proabably one, and i think with windows 98 there is a probably still one that will work on it.
