A few weeks ago when our band went to Disneyland to march.....I had a huge disaster. I had to go in the back of the dressing room to get dressed and I opened my shoe box and one of my marching band shoes were gone. I searched all over the place for them. They were no where to be found. I had to borrow someone's worn down black shoes(not marching shoes) and they were wayyy to small for me. So I had one huge marching band shoe and one small gross shoe. Also, there was powder on the floor so I got powder all over my uniform. Thank god I was in the back. The people in my line were awful!!! They would not look at me(I was the center) so the line was screwed up, their flute posture was awful, and they didn't roll their feet. I even squeaked my piccolo so they'd would pay attention but they didn't even look at me. Idiots.

Wowwww that does suck, and i know what you mean about nobody paying attention to you. This past Memorial Day parade, we (high school band) had to march with the middle school band, and they didn't pay attention to anyone, so the lines were completely screwed up, and I was getting soooo pissed. Damn them.

I know how you feel. I changed schools in the middle of the marching season. The Clarinets wouldn't even talk to me. They wanted me to march bass clarinet. They said our section is perfect we don't need you messing us up. Yeah their section sucked in fact the whole band did. I just ingnored them and marching the the back of the block with the tuba he was happy to have someone new to talk to. I left that school and went back to my old school. The two bands met at a compition the next year. We killed them. We got an Excellent and placed third in our division. They got a good bairly. They placed last. The best part of all of it, they marched with lyers. QC marching band is now a huge joke with Mesa Band

Haha, that happened with us too, this year when we went to Disneyland over Spring Break. One of our cymbal players somehow lost his pants and had to wear some random persons black pants and a trumpet play lost his marching shoes and had to use someone's black tennis shoes.
A disaster, but funny, nonetheless.

Heh, wow.
I got no respect as an eigth grade percussionest, and now i'm gonna get less in high school.
auuugh....just when I thought I was getting ahead, I fell right back where I started... gonk

Try forgetting your bassoon on your first spring trip and having to play on the other bassoonist's horrible bassoon after not practicing for 3 weeks. Oh yeah, I had a solo. That was hell.

I lost my drumsticks for two weeks...turns out another percussionist stole them.

Wenormally wear our travel uniforms which usually consist of: Marching pants, band t-shirt, black socks and marching shoes.
Even when we aren't in our traveling uniform we still wear our marching shoes. It kind of makes them easier to keep track of. If we want comfy shoes for after the show, we'd bring those in a box.
