I've been trying to teach myself Kiswahili for a about a week now, but I can't seem to pick anything up. As my French teacher would say, I'm not "feeling the language"...I've never actually actually heard anyone speak fluent Kiswahili, so I was wondering if anyone had any music or movies in the language? I'm not counting on many replies, not many people know Kiswahili, I just figured I'd ask anyway...

I've looked into it some, and the areas where Swahili is spoken are somewhat diverse culturally, because people aren't that distantly removed from various tribes. Swahili is a lingua franca; in Kenya and Tanzania, where it is most spoken, it's a lot of people's second language. I've found a few songs here and there in it, but the best I can reccomend is to try to find some sort of audio program. Luckily, the pronunciation is pretty easy, so you won't have to worry much about that.
If you want to practice writing it back and forth, PM me, I've been trying to pick some up for a bit now.
