Raistlin Majere was a character in the excellent Dragonlance Chronicles and Dragonlance Legends. He was the younger twin of Caramon Majere, who was big and strong but not very intelligent. Raistlin was sickly but very intelligent and an extremely talented mage. The Story of When Raistlin Became a GodRaistlin Went back in time and studied with the Great mage Fistandantilus and eventually fought Fistadnantilus and gained his power. Rasitlin then traveled forward in time and went through a portal into the Abyss (The God of darkness's home plane) and challenged her. He drew her out of her plane into the prime material plane where she was weaker (it was not her native environment). Raistlin beat her and stole her power. He then challenged and destroyed all of the other gods and took their power as well.
There is far more to this story, but this is all of it that I will tell here.

These books are truly excellent and I hardily recommend them to any literate person (and even the illiterate ones). I can't say enough good things about them. Read them!
