Maybe we could all have a certain element? You would get to pick 1 of 8. Give a stat bonus depending on the element?
Bonuses: earth +1 def wind +1 spd fire +1 atk water +1 mag ice +10 HP lightning +10 MP (light and darkness have no weakness in the elemental cycle, so you don't get any stat points)
Cycles: example: water beats fire. fire beats ice. ice beats water. water-->fire-->ice-->water wind-->earth-->lightning-->wind light = darkness (equal. because there aren't enough elements for one more cycle. )

Hmm this sounds like an interesting idea.
Maybe you could buy a certain elemental weapon which boosts your stats? Or maybe I could work this into an event?

Additionally, linking to class evolution, you could obtain an element when you evolve.

Further Notes On Elements:
I have just designed some elemental symbols, and have thought that maybe these could be incorporated as amulets which can hold a special attack. However the special attack can only be used one until it is recharged.
One of the amulets could hold the power to recharge their allies amulets?

Well the basics are.
Fire (for example) Amulet. Special: +5 STR. Move: Roll 1D100 and take away your strength.
Or something of the like, this attack could then only be used once unless someone holds the light amulet:
Light Amulet. Special: +100 HP Move: All other amulets can be used an extra time.
