any have or know about the different tippmann barrels. i am about to buy a tippman 98 custom and i saw the flatline barrel that gives the ball a backspin which keeps it up longer. but i also wanted to get a 21 inch sniper barrel. anyone know which one is better?

Flatline.

Don't even bother with that 21 inch Sniper barrel. They say Sniper so newbies will buy it all call themselves "Snipers".

And anyways, after 16 inches, the barrel actually slows the ball down.

If your looking to get as much distance as possible go with the Flatline.

I pretty much have the same reasons as Karasu Mad Bomber not to get the 21" barrel. You don't want the barrel slowing down the ball becuase then it'll take more air to reach a desired FPS then it would with a 14" barrel. Thus robbing you of your air in the end.

Plus with a 21 inch barrel you not only look like a n00b with poor air efficency but you also look like a complete idiot with a barrel that big.

one more question. with all the upgrades for the 98 custom that use the air/c02, does it run out of air/c02 faster than normal? and if so how much of a difference is it?

I think your talking about the RT Trigger and Cyclone Feed system which both feed off the blowback of the marker so no they don't eat up any extra air thats not needed. I wondered this as well sense I'm building a Tippmann 98 Custom too.

The Flatline system isn't really my type of barrel. Its not that I don't like its performance, I just don't like the looks and profile of it. I like my markers built a certain way. Meaning that its small,sleek,low-profile, and has no extra fancy gadgets that aren't needed for the marker's performance.

I had a Flatline on a Tippmann I got in a trade way back and it performed nice but like I've said its just not my barrel when it comes down it. Personally I'm a guy who has always stuck to Freak Barrel Systems and Dye Ultralites. Look at my markers and its either got a Freak System on it or a Ultralite on it.

the flatline is great unless you are a sniper and you want to take out a person with one shot, because the ball might curve a bit, and sometimes the balls don't break, but if you don't mind then it's probably great for you

my advice, stay away from the flatline systems unless you are buying a Tippmann A-5. I've never had good luck with flatline barrels.... my advice is to save the money you would spend on that and buy an ultralite or something made out of carbon fiber... these are just my personal preferences...the freak kits are excellent as well...

I'm currently using a smartparts barrel on my '98 Custom. It's 14 inches and it's plenty long enough for me.
