I just bought Magical Melody two weeks ago, and I think I've figured out just about everything...except mining. Dx

Everytime I enter Moonlight Cave I find nothing but Pontata roots! I've never found any cracks or stairs.

I've read that while making the character run around in circles you can see a little square of light underneath the dirt patch hiding the stairs/crack, but I've never seen anything like that.

Please, how do you find stairs and/or cracks in Magical Melody?

When you mean cracks, you mean like those little X things in the ground?
The cracks should just be there. Just stand over it, and then after a few seconds, you fall to a random level in the mine. (Sometimes even up. That raises so many questions though. xD)

You have to walk into the cave with both a hoe AND a hammer. Otherwise, the stairs on the first level will never show up. Go in with both, they'll show up, you'll go into the second level, and there will be rocks, gem thingies, cracks, AND stairs.

I've been wondering the same thing forever, and it's true, if you walk in with a hammer AND a hoe, the stairs will exist- you just must find the cracks and use the hoe on them.

I tried going in there a thousand times without knowing to bring the hammer, and I hoed every single square to no avail. Bring the hammer or it wont work- a sign outside the mines actually tells you not to forget your hammer.

When you first walk into the cave, search around the area, and there should be a hole thingy, go to it, and it'll ask you if you want to go down, once you do, you should be on the 2nd level and there should be rocks and cracks. :3
