Nephthys Angel

Ruthless Survivor

PostPosted: Tue May 22, 2007 5:21 pm

She is runnin'
A hundred miles an hour
In the wrong direction
And she is tryin'
But the canyon's ever widen'
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She's another two years older and
She's three more steps behind

The words from the song on the radio slowly pierced through Morgan's daze. What was she doing anyways? Trying to live through the grayness of her life...but it was just so hard. The fact she knew exactly how this girl the song was about felt was just the last straw.

Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's goin' down today
Under the shadows of our steeples
With all the lost and lonely people
Searchin' for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?

No they never can see. They never see how much pain a simple glance or a few words can make. Morgan fingered the scar on her wrist for a moment. She hadn't created it on purpose, she'd been chopping something with a knife and it had slipped. Her mother had freaked out and had wrapped a mountain of bandages around the wound. In the process, it had given her an idea though.

She is yearnin'
For shelter and affection she never found at home
And she is searchin'
For a hero to ride in
To ride in and save the day
And in walks in Prince Charming and he
Knew just what to say
Momentary lapse of reason and
She gives herself away

That had been when her mom had cared what she did. After her Dad had walked out on them, her mother was reduced to lying on the couch, drinking and watching TV. Sometimes she'd be so out of it and not realize what she was saying and call her daughter an "ugly b***h and it was HER fault that her father had left. If he didn't have such a slut for a daughter he might have stayed" Morgan's chest tightened as she remembered her mom's cruel words. They had started to fight soon after that and Morgan had to move in with a friend as she had no idea where her dad was.

Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's goin' down today
Under the shadows of our steeples
With all the lost and lonely people
Searchin' for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?

Why did it have to be this way? Was life supposed to hurt this much? Morgan wasn't so sure if she wanted to continue anymore and besides, most people didn't care if she was here or not. So why couldn't she... just... end it? A part of her rebelled at the thought...but it was a very small part

If judgment looms under every steeple
With lofty glances from lofty people
They can't see past a scarlet letter
And we've never even met her
If judgment looms under every steeple
With lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past a scarlet letter
And we've never even met her

The larger part quashed this small argument and her mind was made up. She’d rid her friend of having to watch out for her, and her mom wouldn’t be able to blame her and maybe then her dad would come back and realize just how much he’d hurt them.... A razor from the bathroom was retrieved and it hovered above her pale, upturned wrist.

Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's goin' down today
Under the shadows of our steeples
With all the lost and lonely people
Searchin' for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?

The song was starting to end and soon her life would too. She brought the tiny blade down, creating a red line on her flesh. It hurt more than she thought it would but she didn't care. The sight of her blood slowly leaving her body was oddily hypnotizing. She made another slash, deeper this time and more of the crimson liquid emerged, almost eager to leave her body.

Or does anybody even know she's goin' down today
Under the shadows of our steeples
With all the lost and lonely people
Searchin' for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her?
Can anybody see?

Another burst of pain, and another as she cut herself again and again. There was a noise that her fuddled brain couldn't comprehend and the razor was forced from her hand. Her vison was blackening but she reconized Elizabeth, her friend she'd been living with. There were tears in Liz's eyes and Morgan tried to tell her it was for the best but the words wouldn't come. She felt something being wrapped around her wrist before she was emerged in darkness and she knew no more

He is runnin'
A hundred miles an hour
In the wrong direction...

Liz cradled Morgan's still warm body, crying. She'd called 911 but knew it was probably too late. Her friend was dying and all she could do was stem the flow of her lifeblood but it wasn't much. The razor lay on the floor where she'd wrenched it from Morgan's grasp. She barley noticed as the song Morgan had been listening to ended...

A few days later, Morgan awoke in the hospital, connected to an IV and her wrist wrapped tightly in a mountian of bandages. She sat up and the simple motion of it left her dizzy.

"That was really stupid of you."

Morgan winced at Liz's words,

"Yeah, I see that...now."

"You had better swear to me that you won't do that agin, other wise I'll watch your a** so closley, you won't so much as sneeze without me knowin' it." she warned.

Morgan laughed but stopped quickly as it hurt too much.

"I promise" she weezed before laying back down and going back to sleep.

Wow, I wasn't in a very happy mood when I wrote this was I? lol, oh well, there's a sort of happy ending...

I was toying with a new style of writing and ironically enough, my current favorite song turns up on the radio so I used it in mae story The creepy part is it fits.

The song for those who haven't heard it is, "Does anybody hear her?" by Casting Crowns. And If I had the right flash player I'd find it on You Tube so you guys could hear it but as my dad is to lazy to install a more recent flash player and he's rigged it so you can only be on the admin file to install stuff, I'm screwed. -_-

*Sigh* Anyways comments and suggestions are much appreciated!
