But notice how deadly nightshade is both legal and widely used for its byproducts.

I wasn't talking about legality, I was talking about destroying your lungs and brain for pleasure.
Yes, it is destroying your brain, the cool effects are your brain dying a bit at a time.

I don't particularly care what people do to themselves, but I dislike them saying that it doesn't harm them.
