I just got back from a vaction in FL. My fam and I spent 10 days there, 7 of hich were in Walt Disney World. If you get a chance to go the live stage shows are a must in all the parks. I got to see most of them (not all unfortunetly) but the technical work is amazing. in a lot of the day shows you can (if you get in line soon enough) get a seat right next to the control booth, so you can see everything they are doing. All the tech work is awsome, and the lighting is perfect. Sets are also amazing. So if you are planing a vacation to disney world anytime soon, plan to see those. biggrin

I've watched the travel channel and they talk about the crazy shows they do.. like the one where they use water and project video footage on the water! I really wanna go there for techness, but we are going for band instead. Haha.

I wanted to, but no one wanted to go with me, so we didn''t get to go.....I was a bit disapointed, but The night shows at that parks made up for that.....I was definetly in awe....I think My sister would have slaped me if I said "Look at those lekos!" one more time. My dad did actually slap me when we were waiting for a show to start and I was pointing out where you could see backstage people doing prop checks and setting up last minute stuff for the shows.....it was awsome though....I''d go back just to see all the live shows! I wanted to see one that the''ve got in the magic kingdom at the castle called cinderellabration that was more about blocking and sound, plusy some pyrotechnics, but never found the time....they also had a shorter version of lionking and beauty and the beast there but I wasn''t able to go to those...looking at it, there is a lot I wanted to go to that I didn''t get to see....like the sci-fi mystery dinner theatre.

Though I am not a techie, I still love to see shows for the sets (mainly because I have helped design and build practically every set that I have ever used). I really wanted to see the shows in Disneyland for that reason, but my family wouldn't go with me. I especially wanted to see Aladdin. That seems like a difficult show to stage, especially with all the magic and the giant snake. But I did get to see the 50th anniversary fireworks show, which pretty much made up for everything. I'm not a fireworks kind of person, but it was amazing and very intricate.

Fantasmic in Disney Land is amazing. It is maybe 30 actors and mostly just the work of techies. You see the actors for a fefw minutes and they basically wave but the techies make screens of water and do lazer shows with sceens from the movies on them and do fireworks and set the water on fire! It is awesome and so techie-oriented!

That was one of my favorites for sure...I like the way how on alot of stuff they don't try and mask the lighting grids and stuff, makes it all the better for people like me...beyond just the shows even looking at the sets next to the que lines was awsome...I could have spent hours walking though some of the stuff at MGM and Epcot. as well as newer stuff at Magic Kingdom (I did spend hours with some), even looking at some of the older technology like small world(which I absolutly hate) was kinda fun...it made the toruture survivable.

I'm a lighting geek. For as much as Disney can bother me at times, they are natural and artificial lighting geniuses. They know what they're doing when it comes to entertaining an audience.

I love the fact that they don't try and hide their light too much also. They have places where they block one side, but they do allow you to see enough to get an idea of how they make the effects.
