Does anyone know of any colleges that have good theatre tech classes/ majors?

DePaul, Webster, NYU, Carnagie Mellon, Yale... all the big ones have great tech programs.

Lesser known, West Texas A&M, and North Carolina School of the Arts come to mind.

Personally, I'm attending Oklahoma City University next fall as a thatre design and production major and they have a pretty good program as well. They just added a BFA and they're ahrdcore expanding the program.

Florida Community College based out of Jacksonville actually has an excellent technical theater program (even if it's a community college). And I know Savannah College of Art and Design has one, though I'm not sure how good it is. I think it's supposed to be pretty good.

Juldo be an acting major... (right? I thought so, anyway). Hahaha, he an I are from the same metroplex.

Community college, Collin County Community College is great too, but again, Texas. But seriously, one of the guys on Ugly Betty did his first two years a CCCC and then transfered to Julliard. One of the best programs in the country probably.

There are about a zillion great theatre schools in New York and Jersey I'm sure. SUNY Purchase and Ithica come to mind, both being located in New York, probably not too far from NYC. Talk with your director, I'm sure they know of some.

NC School of the Arts is really good for tech (especially for grad--one of the only wig making programs in the country!), as is UNC Greensboro (can you tell I'm from NC?) If you're into sound, Topsail in Orlando is where my roommate from freshman year ended up. And of course Tisch School of the Arts at NYU is great.

Silverah: SCAD is really good for design too. I've looked at their program for grad school...one of the few schools that gives you the option to get an MA or an MFA. And Atlanta is a big theatre city too.

Carthage up in Wisconsin. They sent me an application in the mail. It's expensive but there's a ton of scholarship and financial aid possibilities. I'm going to Springfield College in Illinois then Southern Illinois university carbondale after I get my associate's in buisness management from SCI. In carbondale I'm going to study Fashion design and French. Long story short I'm staying at home for two years and 175 miles away from home for 3 to 4ish years.

Wright State is an AWESOME theatre school, all around. I think the acting moreso than the tech, but still. Very good. Wittenberg, I wouldn't suggest so much just cause it seemed really uppity when I visited. Nothing to say against the theatre, though.

As for theatre, I know I've said good things before in the past about Heidelberg, but I'm a liar. Stay far away from that college.

Bowling Green State University on the other hand offers several different programs in theatre, including a Technical Theatre major.

Otterbein is another good one. Really picky about the kids they accept, but if you're excellent, they want you.
