I don't count myself as a goth. I just dress however I feel like it. rofl

Well western Goth and Gothic Lolita have some similarities.
Both like lovely dark clothing (there are western Goths who dress in petticoats, bloomers, and wear the same labels Gothlolis wear).
There are also similar accessories (depending on the style of western Goth, usually the more Victorian ones).

And as someone who once dressed as a western Goth, I do see many of the same things.
I still attend Goth band concerts, go to Bats Day in the Funpark, and will attack anything that looks even the least bit Halloweenish.

A good example is my idol, Jillian Venters, also known as Miss Manners


She wears loliesque things. . . And top hats. . .
But she identifies herself as Goth.



And to Melancholic Princess; what do you mean goths don't like elegant lace and black crowns?

Besides, Goths I know take a lot more time perfecting their looks the most Lolitas I know. biggrin

This subject bothers me, I don't like people assuming that being Gothic Lolita makes you Goth. Not that people here have really said that, at least not from my quickly reading through this topic. The number one thing that makes someone goth is enjoyment of goth music. A lot of people say you have to dress goth too, and that does make sense.

But, back to me: yes, I am a goth. I enjoy and often listen to goth music. I dress is darker colours, than most people, my aesthetics are darker...
