HOSNAP so I totally just finished my senior thesis animation! THIS IS IT, FOLKS!! I AM DONE WITH SCHOOL AND SCHOOL IS DONE WITH ME!! Checkitout biggrin
Domestic Disturbance SORCERERS IN TRAINING MAKE TERRIBLE HOUSEMATES.
Just another day in the home of these four seemingly normal people: rooms to clean, instruments to play, people to make fun of and reality to bend. When a roomate unleashes a series of monstrosities across their home, the whole household is effected. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBlPWH_9UGM <-- watch and let me know what you think!
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54595893/ <-- DVD coverart (has been updated since I uploaded here, but it's just the information on the back that's been tweaked, really)
ALSO late at night the past couple nights I tried my hand at semirealism from my head with no references again... this time the two main characters from Toshihiko and my new webcomic Bookbinders ( http://xepher.net/~pippin/bookbinders )

No references or guidelines used because I was bored and just smudging around blobs of color untill faces emerged. I'm sure with more practice I'll get better, but for now, I thought they were pretty fun!
Aaaaand there's been more art by me but that's the best of since last I posted, methinks! muchlove!

i has a big fat crush on you, bili :3
i love how the animation looked like puppets. finally we get to see Newt in action xd some of the sound effects aren't quite in sync with the animation, though, and there are some strange transitioning/cuts. the music was really nice and moody, haha. especially love the fight with the green slime :B
congratulations on finishing! and all by yourself, too! *claps*

Hahahaha you just gave me a little terror XD I think any syncing issues either has to do with your computer or youtube- I just re watched the DVD quickly before rushing to turn it in and it all was synced properly... ((Was terrified that the sixteen DVDs I burned last night were all off)) or heck, it might have happened when I exported from iMovie... wouldn't be surprised- they added twenty seconds of black at the end for no reason too without my telling it to XD
But thanks so much!!! I'm excessively proud of it and the fact that I DID do it all on my lonesome without any sophomore slaves or anything :3 My junior film I had my friend work as my assistant and helped me mass produce puppets and stuff at least, but that was stop-motion and a different animal X3 I figured the paper-puppet-style method would help up the artwork quality to show off my character design skillz and yet STOP BITING ME KITTY (sorry my cat keeps trying to bite my feet and I'm unappreciative) still finish in one semester XD
That working song from the basement scenes gets stuck in my head all the time now. I think it's officially Newt's themesong.

haha yes, i suppose it's youtube's fault.
again, congratulations on the solo project! i was going to say "hope to see more", but that'd involve another few years of solo work, hahaha!

Lovely stuff. I stalk you on deviantart. Ha.
Anyhow, the animation style you used...(the way it flows together, not the artwork itself) reminds me of that cartoon on YTV, Jacob-Two-Two. Don;t ask me why I've seen that. I just have.

Jacob Two-two is a good show.
I agree that the animation here is reminiscent of it but I really... really dislike the sliding-cutouts-around-in-flash school of animation. Jacob Two-two uses that technique but combines it with a certain amount of framedrawing to make it work. I think that this could be improved quite a bit by drawing another frame for a few of the motions to reduce the wonky marionette action.
Overall I liked the cartoon, it's cute and pretty neat and does a good job expressing character without the use of dialog.

Remember also that that show (I'm not familiar with it so I can't give proper reaction to the comparison) also has a TEAM of people working on it. I had... well, me. and one semester. xd considering the jobs I want to pursue in animation involve drawing and character design, I wanted to show off that more so than frame-by-frame animation done really quickly and shottily just for the sake of being TRADITIONAL OMG.

Bilious just for the sake of being TRADITIONAL OMG. I would never suggest that anyone do anything just for the sake of being traditional. I'm not suggesting that you should be able to put out a professional quality, half hour long show every week by yourself. I'm simply pointing out that a little bit less motion tweening would be nice. Since it's not your goal to show off your animation skill anyhow, I'd say the short was a success in all important aspects.
