I just took a look at the donation items and the prices. They're already 14g and due to get super expensive. If I just let my unopened envelope fester and pray it gets to 100k+ is that a good investment.

It may take a while. A while being measured in years.
If the pattern I've observed holds true, the donation letters soar to a local maximum the day or two after they open, then slowly lose value over the rest of the month. Then what they do tends to depend on what's in them and how popular those items are.
And just for a couple random examples: As of right now, you can buy an April 2004 envelope for 51k. A May 2004 is 91k. June 2004 is 629k.
There's no way to tell what the current MCs are going to do long term. That's why they call it speculation.

I would have sold it the day before it opened, but I would have made only a few thousand, I'm tired of making chump change so I think I'll be patient (for once).
