Anyone else read it? I've never read anything else by Carson so I can't compare it to the likes of Ella Enchanted but just the same I thought the book was decent. Not great, but decent. It was a quick read (only about 240 pages or so) and it did help me clear my mind between heavy novels.

The story was based around Princess Addie and her sister Princess Meryl. Addie is timmid, shy, and scared of everything including her own shadow while Meryl is just the opposite, brave and adventerious. However, when Meryl is struck ill with the Gray Death Addie has to set out on a quest to find the cure dispite her fears. She ends up head to head with Specters, Gryphons, Ogres, Dragons, and Fairies but is able to keep going with the help of her magical items and sorcerer boy friend.

The writting was choppy at points and I did have a hard time distinguishing between characters at the begining...but I just brushed that off figuring that the novel was written for children and thus should be overly-simplistic...once I was able to get past it's shortcomings I found the story itself quiet enjoyable. It was a good read for a do-nothing summer day, helpped me clear my head in between heavy novels.

I read and I happened to love it even if it was for children it was still a good book. other books by here are Fairest which is new and i have read and is sooo awesome its about: u remmeber from ellea echanted about arieda and that her family owns an inn well she also has and adoptive sister that was just left in one of the room of the inn; anyways its about how all her life she was ugly yatata but she could hella sing(remmeber land of the singing) had low self esteem but then their king decides to remarry and theres this one person who checked in the Inn and was invited to the wedding and then arieda's sister tags along with her. that pretty much how it starts i was doing that by memory srry if it gets confusing(p.s. memory sux) Goose Chase is another good one yea it is kinda for children but its still a good boook its about this one girl who was living in a cottage by herself(well besides her 12 geese) because her mother died then this reallly old lady finds her asks her for food and water (which happpened to b the last she had left) and when she does give it to her the old lady happened to b a witch so she gave her like three gifts one was to b as beautiful as thet dawn, second whenever she would cry diamonds would fall instead of tears and ther her haid had gold dust in it....yea so then 2 guys wanna marry her an evil king and a retarded prince they lock her in a tower while she works on a wedsding dress and when she fifnishes she has to pick one of them but she escapes the tower and a whole lovely thing of adventure and misfortune happpens. for any more info on her books (or anyone elses for that matter) go to bamm.com (booksamillion.com ) good website..(srry if it was load of rambling)

I have the book and I must say I really enjoyed it.
I also liked Ella Enchanted, by the same author.
As well as any book I've ever read by Carson.

My current favorite is by Elizabeth Vaughan, Warprize.
Quite like Ella Enchanted.

That was the book that actually got me started as a obsessed reader xD
I loved it so much I kept going back to the book store to find books like it. And since then I've been reading a lot.
Once in a while I'll go back and read the whole book again just for the fun of it.
