Things have already started changing, but I guess it's not too late to try to go back and write down the whole story from the beginning. I ended up with another kid recently. Popped out of this wand I got. With the way children seem to come out of everything here on Gaia, I'm not at all surprised that there are so many orphans that need to be adopted, seriously.
I got the wand at this funeral for a girl I barely knew. I had been around when she died, though, so I felt at least a little obligated to attend. Funerals are interesting things. Mortals change so much over time, but they still always honor their dead in about the same way.
I don't remember exactly when in the process I got the wand, though, but I felt I should keep it. It was kind of a weird little thing, like an animal bone with carvings on it. Egyptian ones, I think, but damned if I can read mortal writing. There is a feather on it, too, and a few small beads that look kind of old and worn out. I gave it to Kelreid, because he seemed interested, and, in spite of his teething, refused to chew on it, surprisingly.
Then it started spawning this ghostly mist. Ghostly mist seems to have a thing for my house for some reason. There's already that chirping brown cloud that has been residing in my home for quite a while, and then there was this other muddy-colored mist that came from the wand. It stuck with the wand, though, and eventually started carrying it around.
And then one day, there was a solid, real, screaming baby. With teeth. She's kind of scary-looking, but she's in my home anyway and I can't let myself just give her up. If nothing else, I guess it'll be nice that Kelreid has a sibling his own age, so they can keep each other occupied when I'm not around. The girl has a full set of teeth already, and they're very sharp; she looks like a train wreck of a couple different animals. Babies on Gaia tend to have ties to ancient mythology, so I've heard, so I guess I'll have to brush up on my Egyptian so I can find out what exactly the little lady is.
Oh yeah, her name is Tahirah. I thought it sounded kind of cool and appropriate to where I'm guessing she's from. Hopefully I'm at least right about the Egyptian thing.
