Something that's always annoyed me is how in the Voyager episodes Basics Part 1 and 2, when the Kazon leave the crew on the planet, they take their combadges away, but in Distant Origin, when the Voth professors go back to that same planet, they find the remains of whichever crewmember got killed by the creature in the cave, and they find a combadge on the guy's uniform!! That has annoyed me to no end. Aagh!

Actually,
there IS an answer to the holodeck issue.

The holodeck includes a REPLICATOR.
So, most of the matter on the holodeck is "virtual", but SOME of it is replicated.
That's how Wesley can throw out a snowball, and Picard can have lipstick on his cheek, and Moriarity-supposedly-can hand someone a note to take off the holodeck.

So, it is possible to take matter off the holodeck, but not PROGRAMS (like Moriarity)-even if there was a replicated android body, the controlling programs would be missing.

The only explanation we ever heard on the show was Worf's
"we prefer not to discuss it."

However, I-and others-have attempted to answer this
one over the years.
The old answer was that there were 2 different races of
Klingon-the purebloods (walnut-heads) and mixed-bloods
(looked human).
That doesn't work because some of the TOS Klingons
now have the walnut-head.

We know it's a sore subject because Worf won't explain it.

So, some Klingons looked one way, then didn't, then went
back to their original look.

Thus, my explanation/speculation:

At the time of TOS,
the Klingon powers-that-be were requiring their soldiers
to undergo surgery, removing their walnut-head,
to make it easier for Klingons to become spies as needed.
Over time, this was discredited, and the proud Klingons
reclaimed their correct appearance.

I'll check again when the episode airs again,
but I've NEVER heard that explanation...

"We do not discuss it with outsiders."
We therefore didn't know if either, both, or NEITHER
was correct.



As far as all of ST:TNG and ST biggrin S9 went,
that was ALL the explanation we got.

It wasn't until the questionable show "Enterprise"
came out that any further answer came out.
The episodes "Affliction" and "Divergence"
went into this. And I bet Rick Berman felt SOOO
clever about this.

Two for ya.
This one isnt really one, but i thought id put it in anyhow. After Natasha mets her (sad) demise, she's still put in the credits in the last episodes of the series, it annoyied me.
Now this one took some time, but i found it. And again, its not and acutal inconsistence, but it is interesting. watch 'The cloud miners'. in one shot, kirks mouth dosent move, but he's still talking.

Denise Crosby's character Tasha Yar dies in Season 1,
in "Skin of Evil".

Filmed AFTER that but aired BEFORE that DC's last scene with her.
(The episode "Contagion", stardate never given.)
Watch her as the episode ends.
"If you watch the scene with Crusher and Picard leaving the cargo bay at the
end of the episode, you can see Denise waving goodbye in the extreme

Those 2 episodes were the last we saw of Tasha Yar-almost.
"Yesterday's Enterprise" showed us an alternate present where Tasha
survived, and Denise Crosby returned. Tasha saved our present by going
into the past with the NCC-1701C USS Enterprise, Ambassador class.
(Why a heavy warship was called "Ambassador class" excapes me.
It's like the missle system called "the Peacekeeper"....)

Denise Crosby returned in the 4th-5th seasons as Romulan Commander
Sela in a number of episodes.
(I don't feel like looking them all up and posting them here.)

Perhaps mentioning her in the credits is partially for this reason.
