I myself am a Libertine. I am totally without morals, except that I keep to what I say I will do. I like to keep the trust of people.
I have been against the Patriot Act ever since it came into existence after the 9/11 attacks. It takes away our civil and natural right to privacy. And the denial of one right leads to the loss of another, and another, and yet another. I have noticed lately that Bush is sounding more and more like a wannabe dictator.
World War II was the first time ever that the government had put restrictions on a civil right, and that right was free speech. The same thing is happening today, but with our privacy.
I say we take our unrest out of Gaia and into the real world. Put up posters. Stage protests (too bad May Day is already gone...eh, tis a Communist holiday anyways...idiots...). Let's do whatever it takes to bring our cause to light. Let's show this gilded government for what it really is.
That idiot Bush put the man who was accused of massaging evidence to support the idea that Saddam had nuclear weapons in charge of a new intelligence gathering task force that focuses on Iran. Now, if that does not sound fishy, I don't know what is. I think Bush wants another war.
Why are we still in Iraq? This is turning into a disaster! They don't want us there! This is just another Vietnam! "THE WAR IS OVER!!! if you want it to be!" as John Lennon would say.
I say we do something.

We already have an activist organization. It's called the Libertarian Party. Though we could probably do a bit more to get the word out. I would suggest getting more involved at the high school level. When I was in high school, represenatives from both major parties did a presentation to try and win us over. At that time, I had never heard of the Libertarian Party. I didn't learn of the Party's existence until a year or so after I graduated. A presentaion of the libertarian platform at that point would have won a lot of converts. I would suggest that anyone still in High school ask to do a presentation, or for permission to hand out information pamphlets, right by the ones being handed out by the army, if possible. ((They had a table in the cafeteria where they would periodically hand out infromational pamhlets on the army.)) We need to advertize to these people before they register to vote.

And yes, I'm sure bush wants another war. The more "wars" we fight, the bigger the "threat" is, and therefore, more "security" is needed to "counteract" it. As for why we are still in Iraq, I think its simple ego. The Bush administration doesn't want to admit they were wrong, or look like we were repeating Vietnam, where we eventually had to withdraw because of all the casualties. Apparently, they would rather have wounded soldiers than wounded pride. I personally think we should withdraw to Kuait, where we're just across the border if they try anything. If the government starts to fall, we can back them up with jets and paratroopers while we make another dash to Baghdad. We need ot make it clear that even though we're leaving, we WILL be back if we're needed. Iraq will not become a terrorist haven again, our troops will be safe, and the occupation, which is the main cause of the insurgency, will be over.

Ah, sorry I haven't replied in a while. Blame that on the idiots who run Comcast...
Well, yes, I knew that there was a Libertarian Party, but I had never heard of their actions, or even that they existed (I had to look), so I thought we should bring it out a little more. And yes, I was hoping to bring it more into schools. That is where we need strength.

Well, I have a word of hope at least.
In my school, the word's getting out.
I have a great Government teacher, I'm pretty sure that she's a Democrat, but she's never told us that, because she wants us to have our own views on politics.
We did an assignment in class to find out our political party, and most of the people in all of her classes (she has at least 3 or 4) turned out to be Libertarians. So yeah, more people are learning about the Libertarian party at my school.

I think more people will find out about Libertarianism, because I think more people are becoming more liberal morally, while still wanting a smaller government. People are seeing the Republican party badly because of Bush's actions, so they want to stay away from it, and more knowledge is coming out about homosexuality, abortion, etc., so the perfect solution to all of this is the Libertarian party.

Or maybe I'm just being wishful. Anyways, that's my word of hope for the news getting out.

No, that is a good thing. It is a great thing. Only problem with my school is that it's mostly hispanic (not that that's a problem, cuz so am I), which means that most of them are Catholic, and most Catholics are conservatives...I can't stand conservatives...

Oh. I understand how that is. I used to go to a Christian school full of uber religious-right conservatives.
But I don't have that problem at my new school. It's an art school where around at least 90% of the people are liberal.

I myself went to a Cristian school for a while. I didn't have much of a problem with it, though. They seemed to run on the theory that God put us here to make a choice, that he wants us to choose to live a life of virtue, and since the Government is not smarter than the Almighty, they had no right to take away the choice. In other words, if God doesn't force us to be moral, the government shouldn't try to either. I've found this an excellent way to sell Libertarian ideas to Christian conservatives.

Oooooh, that's creative. I like that.
