"That's what exactly what he said!" Writ laughed, "Being 'Freaks' and all that."
***
"Whatever whatever. You apparently know em' "
Damn, that was all he had on the god. Ah well, plan B. Lie.
Coyote began to pad along the grass,"Just be careful with his kid, real a*****e."
That was the truth.
"He's more untrustworthy as I am, and I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to pull something on us..." Coyote stopped, his head tilted back at Morrigan, "Least, that's what I hear from flowergirl. She didn't know what I did with Writ. So we had a little talk, a little trade, and now here I am."
Persy would be the only clue of authenticity for his half-lie, but that should be enough.

Crow suddenly glared over at Writ. "And you're laughing because...!?" Her fingers drew inward to make a tight fist, her wings extended out, her tail stood straight, and she started to pull her legs up on the roof.
"Some of us aren't lucky like you and MJ. No, some of us are damned from a young age--if not birth!--with gills, horns, wings, tails, claws, paws, what did you get? Ears you can explain away and your feet? You can hide those. I sure can't hide my wings unless I want to burn alive. Len has those...tentacle thingies. You first think it's snot--which is gross ENOUGH--and then you find out they're freakin' TENTACLES. And Ciro? Dear god the boy has horns on his HEAD and he's had them since birth! Imagine having HORNS? Yet you are to say we're not freaks of nature, just because you're not?"
--
Morrigan sighed. "Us... Us may not be us anymore, I sense Crow's anger... She's pissed, as she would put it. More than usual... Wonder what happened?" She turned her head around, as if Crow was right behind her. "What I know is that Len's god took him to a place called Leng, and Len's a dreamhopper. That's all I know."

"Okay okay okay! I'm sorry!" Writ said, his stomach felt really weird all of a sudden, like he should just curl into a ball and squeak. It was a mix of nervousness and stomach acid, and it felt horrible.
"I- I thought that you two would get along, saying the same thing and all, and I- I think I was right, t-that's all..."
***
Coyote's right paw tightened, up to the point where it was going numb.
"I think I know." He said, his ears pricking up at the disturbance, "I'm going to go make sure that Writ doesn't fall off the roof, thanks for the info."
And Coyote left.
He came back to a mess, whatever happened, Writ's mind felt like a train wreck was going through it, and there were more of them coming. It was more of a train pile up than anything.
Coyote banged his head against something. Whatever the effect the opposite gender had on Writ, it hit hard.

Morrigan did the same, and the next thing Crow felt was a sudden rush of emotion.
YOU BETTER BE HAPPY HE MISSED THE CIRO PART. Morrigan growled, obviously still in wolf-form in Crow's mind.
Crow didn't chose to respond to her Goddess, on the other hand she stepped towards Writ. "I... I was just..." She sighed. Boys are such fragile things, especially Writ. He leaves his family, his life, everything behind for this game, and then she goes and yells at him. What sort of friend does that?
She wasn't used to friends, that's all she could reassure herself with. She then forced a smile and arched her wings above him, shading him some. "I just envy you, that's all... You don't have to watch your back like some of us do... Except you really ought to hide better, you do have some traits that are a little too odd." She smiled, and then took yet another step closer.
"I shouldn't have yelled... It's...just the whole emotional ride of aging is hitting me all at once, y'know?" She blushed lightly and squished her eyes closed, the last part was certainly true.

Crap Writ, what happened to you? He didn't wait for an answer.
You and me are going to have a little talk when this is done... Coyote left without another word.
Writ was just trying to get onto another subject.
"Everything's so complicated now..." He said slowly, his stomach was coming back to him.
"If you wanna find that kid, he's around Downers, can't miss him."

To and fro and to and fro... Coyote's such a wanderer. Damn trickster... The Goddess left Crow's head as well. Crow sighed with relief.
"You're telling me... Things are getting serious, and freaky... Yeah... We oughta go see that kid, think he's been on the streets for long...?" She tucked her wings back down. "'Cause if not he'd need some advice..."
---
"Joy, our children are messed up. You think this'll ruin our little game, Coyote?"
Morrigan had returned to her spot, this time without blood, and with cows and bulls and calves all around the field, going about their chewing business as if the two canines weren't even present.

"It seemed like he lived there for a while, could probably run into him somewhere, he didn't want to go to Middling when I met him."
Writ put his knees to his chest, his arms wrapped around his shins, thinking. He didn't realize how deep this game went. When he started, it was all fun and crazy and cool. A game. Now there were gods, powers, men in suits, growing up and running away. It was everything but.
"Things are only gonna get freakier from here."
***
"Well, it is our fault." Coyote said matter-of-factly, "But I'm not worried, we're both smart, we've gotten our kids to grow, taming teenagers can't be that hard."
Coyote gave the canine equivalent of a shrug, and began wandering the field again.
"Ruin? No, I think we've made things all the more interesting."

Crow grunted. Didn't he figure that out when he joined the game? She stood firm, crossing her arms in disagreement with Writ's suddenly anxiety. "Get up." She grunted.
--
Morrigan followed, her tail swayed with each rise of her wolfish hips. "Interesting indeed, dear Coyote... One must wonder, how are the other gods fairing with their children? According to Carren, Len's god was sure upset with him when he started bawling like a toddler in her dream."
She found herself a moment after saying that snickering like a cruel school girl. "Can't--believe--that--he'd--pick--one--so--damn--fragile!" She remarked, fighting through her strange barkish giggles.

"Just thinking." Writ said brightly, lifting his head. He pushed himself up, not on Crow's order, but on his own.
"Wanna go see him now?"
***
"Heh, says you. It's probably a ploy." Coyote smiled, "First moment he's crying, the next moment he's devouring your dreams, ol' bait and switch, wonderful trick really."
He looked down on his right paw, it seemed to feel looser now. Back to normal, for the time being.
"When his god starts messing with his body, maybe the kid will break. I know Writ hasn't gotten used to it yet. Gods like us underestimate the power of hormones."

Crow cocked her head for a moment, pondering something in the back of her mind.
"Yeah, I guess." she finally replied.
--
"Well, given most of us never went through those years...yeah, we sort of forgot the whole human hormone trip of Hell." Morrigan trotted up on ahead of him.
What Coyote didn't know, or at least Morrigan figured he wouldn't have caught it, a patch of grass disappeared once she passed it, and created a whole about five inches wide, and right in the stepping path of his left back paw. She paused, waiting for him to catch up.

"Let's roll."
Writ started down the stairs, and the ladder. He was starting to get used to the whole freedom to wander anywhere he wanted.
***
First there was ground, then there was-
Thud.
Coyote winced as he suddenly felt his paw slip down under the ground. His whole body plopped down on the grass.
"Har har, very funny." Coyote growled.

Crow stood on the side of the building for a moment, before hopping off and gliding down gently with her wings, landing effortlessly on her hooves with only a minor clomp. It happened so quickly that most people wouldn't have time to notice, and if they did see it, they wouldn't be sure of exactly what they did see.
She turned her head up, holding a hand above her eyes. "You're slow, Writ!" She said with a few giggles afterward.
---
"Well, yes, I found that quite funny myself." Morrigan jovially replied, taking a few steps over to him and poking him in the forehead with her paw. "And yet you're the trickster god."

"Hey!"
Writ clambered down the ladder.
"Am not!" He said playfuly, running ahead of her.
***
"The best there is, you should come back to my realm and see what happens to you." Coyote giggled a little, thinking about what he could do to her. Probably hook her up with Raven and see what happens.
"See you, don't lose too quickly."
Coyote left, for real this time.
