Well, I thought I'd ask my fellow theatre geeks if there are any Tom Stoppard fans in the house. I was never much of a fan until my school decided to use Arcadia as our UIL One-Act Play (we won third in the state of Texas[2007]! W00t!). Arcadia, honestly, was amazing once I understood it.

So, any Arcadia fans in the theatre? How about any of Stoppard's other works?

Haven't read Arcadia, but I have seen and LOVE Travesties, and my grandma saw all of Coast of Utopia, and says it was amazing. Stoppard is brilliant. *end of two cents* mrgreen rolleyes

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is how he got his name in theatre, I believe. I also liked The Real Inspector Hound. And he wrote something called The 15 Minute Hamlet, which is absolutely hysterical.

Hey Texas buddy!

That's awesome you got third at State. This year my school got eliminated at regionals (alternate... poo) but we won state in '06 biggrin

Anyway, Stoppard. I've only read Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (LOVE IT!) and The Real Thing. Honestly, The Real Thing confused me a whole lot. I heard Arcadia was really good though.

Some of his stuff I just don't get though. His newest play is up for a Tony though.

I LOVE THAT PLAY!!

*flips to page 70 cuz he always forgets the opening lines*...
Do you eve think of yourself as actually dead, lying in a box with a lid on it? (no) Nor do I, really...It's silly to be depressed by it. I mean one thinks of it like being alive in a box, one keeps forgetting to take into accounf the fact that one is dead...*monolouge continues*

MY theatre teacher said that is matches up perfectly with Hamlet. He wrote it that way on purpose. I heard her saying something about if she ev er did it, they would be performing Hamlet backstage at the exact same time x.x I was like "Cool"
