Mrost was a mess, as usual. His fur was marred by countless scars, some of whih festered horribly, others seemingly long healed. He had been prowling the outskirts of these lands, furious, watching, waiting. As usual he would run all day and night for weeks, until he dropped to the ground in a dead slumber, recklessly pushing his body beyond it's limits. He wasn't sure why he still sought Ohka, that submissive female who had been his to lord over and to own.
There was an emptiness in his soul that madness almost filled. It seemed that females filled what was left.
No one ran away from him, not Rorrim, not Tempest, not Ohka. He'd find them all and make them answer, Ohka first of all.
Scrabbling wildly up a grassy hill, he raised his ragged and battle-scarred head high. Howling out a challenge to the night, the notes more like the scream of a madman than the melodic symphony usually heard in lupine howls. The message in the howl was clear though.
Come to me Ohka. Making me come to you, would not end well for you.
He paid no heed to the fact that he stood on the edges of pack lands, a pack that could tear him limb from limb. In his own mind, he was immortal and pain was a pleasure. Let them come. He wanted Ohka.

Ohka had been scrambling all morning, Senku and Anokain'thros wandered off too much for their own good. The other three were just as adventurous, "Not good not good," she mumbled over and over and over. What would she do if Mrost found them and killed them? No, not her little babies. They were so cute, so strong, just like Mrost. How she loved him, was his, she didn't care, Ohka loved Mrost, Ohka wanted to be with Mrost. Just, just a little bit longer until the pups would grow and be able to run if the time came for it.
Then she heard, it, it sent a chill down her spine and she lowered herself to the ground and whined. Mrost, he was here?! Oh no, not good, not good. She stayed low and traveled towards the area where he had called. Better to go see him, not let him come inside, no, the alpha would not be happy, the nice females would not be happy.
The pups would be in danger.
"Not good not good..." she muttered as she got closer. Then she saw the blue. As she revealed herself from the underbrush, she crouched even lower, belly almost touching the ground, tail between her legs. A smile on her maw however, her tail flicking back and forth from a wag. She missed him, loved him.
"Mrost..." she said softly, going closer to him and crawling under his chest somewhat, giving him a nuzzle, staying low, but letting him be over her, know he had her, she was his. She'd always be his. "Mrost...I missed Mrost so much..." it was true, she loved him, and needed him. Needed him always. Without him, life was hard.

Whatever twisted up fury had lurked in Mrost's mind, intent to attack, maul and scar the one who left him feeling that empty shard in himself, cause her pain so she felt the bottomless agony he was in every day it tormented him - dissapated as Ohka emerged from the trees. There had never been any in his old pack who fell so willingly in line, who did everything just right to ease the mad rages within him. To submit to him was to remove the need he had to harm, to dominate. Mostly. He still hurt from his time alone, the new scars he bore blamed on the female who stood before him. In truth, she was innocent, Mrost made his own truths.
He snarled low and threateningly, throwing a foreleg over her shoulder and shoving her with intent to pin her to the ground, his fangs flashing dangerously, his slitted eyes a warning that to resist would force him to even more violent ends. He did not speak to many but he would speak to her.
"Wherrrre." he snarled, growing louder the longer he held it "WhERRRRRRRE. WHERE did you GO!?" he was so tempted to lash out, to sink his fangs into that white fur and shake her till she would promise to stay, not to run but to stay there beside him, but he resisted. With another abrupt snarl, he pushed away from her, walking off a short way, still a bristling, snapping mess.
"I did not tell you to leave." he muttered darkly, his eyes fixed upon her. "Yet you did. You came here. Why?"
His features turned chillier still "You say that you "missed" me as if it was I who ran away from you. You cannot outrun the sky, you cannot." his tone was clipped "escape me."
That low growl again.
And he waited.

Ohka shivered and whined and whimpered as he snarled but she pressed against him, she needed to feel that contact, know that this was Mrost, the wolf she loved, the wolf who's pups she had given birth to. She wriggled underneath his weight as he pushed down on her back, and she whined again, slightly from pain, but also from sadness that she made him so angry. She did not mean to, she did not.
"I went here, there," Ohka said softly, pointing with her paw to where she had emerged. "A packland..." she closed her eyes, awaited the sinking in of fangs, but it did not come. Was she supposed to elaborate, was she? Should she tell him, seemed like she had to, though she wished not to. "They took care of me when I was hurting, in pain, they helped me Mrost, helped us, helped them..." she ranted on and on, hoping to not get a scar from today.
"Not to leave no but, it was best for them, I...I thought you would want them to grow big and safe, then have them see you and know where their strength is from...I thought, I thought," a few tears came from her silvery eyes and she cried when she pushed away from her. Walked away. She whimpered and crawled after him, stance apologetic and submissive.
"They are safe...and healthy..." not ready, not this ready to see their father but, "they are safe because the females here, they knew what to do...they helped me keep them alive Mrost, the puppies, they are safe I..." she cried, curled up next to him, nuzzled against his leg, "I wanted them to survive for you..."

The mad wolf watched smirking as she explained herself, not sure if he was pleased that his actions affected her so, that she so readily explained herself or if he had found her. He didn't understand his own mind and didn't try. She had run off to a packland, a rediculous notion to a wolf who thought that the only packs that counted were the ones that he himself created on a whim. He did not pay attention to her mention of them at first. He had no knowledge of the pups that he had fathered, too obsessed with himself and his domination of the female that he had no seen the signs.
He snarled "Better to have died by my side with dignity than fleeing to a land of FOOLS and COWARDS."
His ears, snapped against his skull only moments before perked as her words finally sunk in. There were pups. Pups that had survived. "There were pups." he said out loud, his expression unreadable, indifferent, his eyes seeming to dance with an inner blue flame. He chuckled darkly, derisively. "There were many females who thought they were fit to carry my line you know. Many females, all dead." he smirked "I killed the pups. They were not good enough to survive against me in a battle, they deserved it." his logic seemed solid to him, madness to others. "Unworthy." he bristled. "What makes you think these, born under the watch of fools will be better? They have lived this far, longer than the others."
He fell silent, dangerous.
"They will continue to live so long as you continue to do as I say, when I say and do not become a coward like those females you speak of. "
He leant in closely and whispered in her ear with a smirk "When they are grown to adults, they must fight me. All of them. Only if they win, will I accept them as my offspring. If they lose, I will kill every last one of them the way I killed the others."
Despite his harsh words, he seemed more serene than before, the manic movements and tone he had held receding to almost normality. One could almost imagine him as a normal wolf, too ragged and worn for his years, too jaded and cruel for a lifetime.
"I give them this chance because you came to me when I called."

Ohka said nothing, just shook, whimpered a bit, but stayed silent. He was angry. When he spoke of the pups, the females that had died before, the pups he had killed before. She shifted and closed her eyes. The pups, their pups, her babies, she didn't want them to die, no, she didn't want that at all. When she looked at them, she saw herself and Mrost, them together, them together and being together always.
She whimpered, "T-they are getting stronger..." she did not say they were as strong as Mrost, she knew that was not possible, least not now. Though she prayed for them for when they fought, that they would all win, each of them, and they would live, and have a father. "The boys...they are stronger, well built sons...your daughters...they could trick any male...2 sons and 3 daughters..."
"Mrost..."
Ohka looked up at him, tears at the corners of her eyes, "I am sorry..." she moved herself in front of him, closed her eyes and put herself in line of his fangs. She felt horrible, she had betrayed him, disobeyed him, left him and made him angry, she put her pups in danger. She believed she should be punished, though how so, only Mrost would decide. Though how she stood, she exposed her shoulders, her neck, everything to Mrost.
If she was to be punished, she would welcome it, and try to show him she was devoted to him, that she loved him and needed him.
Mrost was her everything.

Mrost remained indifferent, emotionless as she spoke of them growing stronger. He wondered if they would be strong in mind and body or be cursed as he was, to never be as strong in body as his brother, nor as strong in mind as him. Would they be the mad runt that had been? He grinned toothily, purring "Let us hope that they are. At the very least they have numbers on their side, they had best learn to work together, I may be one wolf, but I have..." he trailed off, laughing, only to snap at the air, malice dripping off of his words. "..tenacity."
What he didn't expect was for her to accept full responsibility for her failure. All the others had argued, had tried to blame him for inadequacy, had forced him to end them, to kill them and stop the words that made him hurt for reasons he couldn't understand.
He was confused, presented with a throat he didn't know wether to tear open or not for the first time in ages. He stared, head tilted.
You hear that Mrost?! Mother DIED for you and you still don't give a damn! She stood there and didn't even fight back.
Angry words. That prone figure.
She loved you.
A stabbing pain, like a dagger between the eyes hit him in his head, a worse headache than he'd had in a very long time. It knocked his concentration off, forcing him to let out a yelp and to stumble forward, as it happened, into Ohka. Flopping to his side he rolled over, pressing his head to the ground. He was remembering. He didn't want to remember. Didn't want to let himself feel. He gritted his teeth and staggered to his feet again as though he'd been struck.
"NNnnnnng. No. I'm too tired. Too much thought. Too much feeling."
He swallowed forcefully.
"I will return another day. I want to see them. Bring them to me." he stared at her, his eyes daring her to mention it. Daring to point out the obvious.
He was crying.
With a snarl he skidded on his heels and with a scrabbling at the ground, raced off in the opposite direction, the pain in his head driving him to rattle his shoulder off a tree as he passed, scraping fur and flesh alike.
He would run until he couldn't remember any more. He wouldn't feel for Ohka. Couldn't.
You killed her.
