Well, I perhaps it's just my memory playing with me, but if I remember correctly, I found something called "Last Elixir" inside Gaea's Cliff. But what is Last Elixir? I can't find it in my inventory.

Its just an odd-named regular elixir. When it gets to your inventory, its just a regular elixir, so its added to that total.

Sort of like in dirge of cerberous, were you have potions and potoins. Okay not really the same since one works like a potion and the other is just there to take up space. But its the same quirkyness that makes you scratch your head in confusion. Its harmless, just programmers pulling your leg.

Really, it is just a fancy name on the Elixir. It just means that if you've obtained all the Elixirs from treasure chests and the like up to this point, then this is the last Elixir you'll find in a treasure chest, etc.
Don't be troubled, if you have the W-Item Materia and at least 2 Elixirs, then you can use the duplication trick and have as many as you'd like. =)
