Well, last night a freind of mine needed help beating rapido. Anyways, once the entire alliance gets here, he pulls a cactar...and lo and behold: Dune Widow pops. He shoots it with an arrow while still running from the cactar. From endless camping of this SoB, I know how to take him down in 3 nukes. Blizzard IV goes off. Thunder IV. Casting Thunder 3(he was at 5%), someone in the alliance hits him with a ws beating him. Anyways, torque drops. But it was QMed by the leader. No one noticed the QM at all. I ask him if I could have the torque and after an hour of discussing, I finnally get it. However, the one who claimed it goes off at me, and I even sugest spliting the gil for it. He dousn't answer me. Her eventually says "whatever." I take this as a hint to just sell the thing and put the torque on the AH. Not sure what to do with it once it sells. Should I split the gil both ways to the one who claimed it and myself, or just keep the gil from the torque and buy myself that nobles I've been saving up for ages for, or get my enfeebling torque which I also need? I'm really not sure what to do right now.

I'm not sure what I should have done... I'm lvl 18, never been in a party nor a LS (well, a inactive one, but that doesn't count xP ).
On Ryzom you would have been pretty much hated by the whole server if you took all of the gil. It's a small community and such things spread fast.
But I doubt that the FFXI community is that small, so I say that you should share it if there is a chance of meeting her again or that she knows some of your friends. Otherwise, keep it : P

Well im not too sure on the stats(i just woke up XD) but i would go with whatever helps your abilities most. You can always save up more for the other one and get it at a later date. If you can get the entire nobles set, im pretty sure that would benifit you more then something that just boosts your enfeebles, but like i said whatever comes first for you go ahead an get that then save up for the other.

I have 3 75 jobs. Already have another spider torque for my rdm, and my whm is pretty pimped out except for the nobles, which I have been saving forever. Frankly, not sure if I want to improve my rdm or if I want to finish whm when I've been first for the drop for months. Not sure atm what to do.

well - if the guy who got the claim wanted the torque why didn't he speak to the leader like you did? - or even if he didn't notice the QM thing why didn't he say "can I have that/lot on that" or something to indicate he's interested in it?
Its a bit late to decide that you want the spoils an hour after it drops -.-"
I'd say splitting the gil is entirely reasonable on your side, and if he's too grumpy to accept it he's a bit of an a** really.
If I were you I'd just make sure that you deal with the whole thing openly in front of the linkshell so that you can't come off as looking like the bad guy razz

Well I see it like this. If he could have killed them NM by himself, he should have done that if he wanted to keep the drops for himself. To quote the wise saying from The Chronicles of Riddick. "You keep what you kill."
If you helped kill it, then you are entitled to a part of the spoils. That said, if its about the money and he's just being greedy, he lost his claim to the drops as soon as he pulled it back to the allience to help kill it.
BUT...
In another game I've played (Everquest) there is another saying. NB4G or Need before Greed.
If he can honestly use this piece of equipment towards the bettering of one of the jobs he plays regularly then I can understand his dissatisfaction. There have been times where I've given up items to people who can use them and let them have them for as long as they can make use of it and when they get done using it they just sell it and send me half the gil.
That said. Split the gil. In all fairness he claimed the NM and there'd be no drop to sell if it wasn't for him. If he really needs it and you find him trustworthy you can let him use it until he can eventually sell it off or pay your half of the spoils and just keep it himself. Eh, maybe throw some gil to the person who killed it, maybe their WS caused the drop somehow >.>.

I've soloed this particular nm countless times, 4/37 on it. (first drop I actually used for myself.) Really, taking 5 percent off it is nothing. It's a 2 minite fight on rdm, and a 30 second one on blm. And rarly dous anyone camp it unless they need the drop. But still, 300k for it droping for a bunch of passerbys, it's pretty nice, especially when I did not come for the drops of rapido, just to help out someone out of kindness. Really, I went and 1shoted some kids NM for a quest he needed. Course he got killed since stunga isn't a spell and sleepga II macro died out on me....but at least he got the quest done.
