Dib only 'hm'ed in response, not quite knowing what else to say. He looked around the room at all the technology, deactivated and useless now. "You haven't been to school in a while." He said finally, half asking with that statement if the irken was going to come back at all.

Zim looked up at Dib. "I was more concerned about actually finding a new base, before this one deteriorates?" he replied, a bit testy. He wasn't thilled in the first place by Dib's prescence.

"Ok," Dib just said, backing up a bit, suddenly looking around more, slightly worried he was going to fall through the floor or something to the effect. "I guess I'll leave you to it then?" He asked, but it was more of a question of wether Zim actually wanted him to leave. He knew of course the other would most likely want him to leave but not really wanting to.

"Don't leave, Dib-human," Zim stated rather suddenly, red eyes fixed on the floor as though there was something there simply begging of the boy's interest. He wasn't quite sure of what he was saying, a disturbing sensation.

Dib was just about to turn and leave when he heard what Zim had said, turning back rather sharply. "What r-really?" He asked rather stupidly. "You don't want me to leave?"

Zim tore his eyes from the floor in time for a classically sarcastic comment.
"That was what I just said, Dib-human." He said, voice faltering a bit. Weakness. Damn.

Dib's eyes narrowed in annoyance. He crossed his arms and said, "I'm not sure I wanna stay if that's how you're going to act towards me the whole time." He was about to lean on another pile of what used to be the base but decided against it, seeing alot of pointy metal. He turned his head away so he wouldn't have to see Zim's reaction. He knew what he said was mean and he didn't want to see it's affects on the alien.

Zim's eyes fell back to the floor again at the statement. Part of his didn't want to be alone. Couldn't be alone. The other was proud, didn't want to allow Dib to speak to him that way. "...don't say that." He finally growled.

Dib's eyes cut back to the alien for a second before they went back to staring at the wall. Finally he sighed and let his arms fall, the compassionate part of him ot liking to see Zim this way and causing him to say, "Fine, I'll stay, but you have to be a little bit nicer if you expect any kindness from me." It was a bluff though and he knew it.
