One of my penpals (Who I love so very much and recently missed a trip with her aunt to visit her ;0; ) is very confused now ^^;
We were discussing stores, and I mentioned how we can sometimes get Japanese magazines here in America.
I told her the names of two "CURE" and "SHOXX"
This was her response
『キュアー』と『Shoxx』はドラッグですか？
(Are 『Cure』and 『Shoxx』drugs?)
Ah <3 I love mistranslations!
They are funny, and embarrassing at the same time XD

Umm, I can't really think of anything like that, but some of my penpals' English is sooo cute~ It makes me want to scrunch up my face in happiness.
I speak English [obviously!], I'm learning Japanese, and I know a tiny bit of Spanish. I generally mix Japanese and English if I'm speaking to a Japanese person, and so far I don't think I've made any mistakes resulting in hilarity. D;

Not quite a mistranslation, but in the same vein. I've got a native Japanese friend named -le gasp- KAORU! She attended our school for a month as part of the exchange program we have, and the day she left, my roommate and I were being all whiney about her having to go. On our way to say good-bye...
Rauko- "...Gretchen, we're sneaking into Kaoru's suitcase."
Gretchen- "....Mmm, I'd love to...then I'd be with all of Kaoru's underwear..."
Rauko- "......."
Gretchen- "What? Don't tell me you don't want to."
Rauko- "........" *major gahurk*
Gretchen- ".....OH."
Rauko- "BWARARRR YOU THOUGHT A HIGH SCHOOL GIRL WAS KAORUUUU!! ........Kaoru's leavvvinngg.... emo "

Very Dir en grey related, this story--
My girlfriend has/had a French penpal. She was talking about pets to this penpal, and the response mentioned a cat. WORD FOR WORD, this is the quote.
"I had a cat, but she is die."
We both thought of a cat with some pretty ******** awesome red hair.

I'm Japanese, live in America, and am taking French in school.
That should give you the three languages.
"J'ai eu une chatte. Mais elle est mourir." ?? "mais elle est meurt" would be "but she is dead >.>"
I should ask my prof de francais XD for fun...
"How do you say, literally, 'My cat is die?'"

Well, no, her response was supposed to be in English... sweatdrop The letter my girlfriend sent was in French.
It was a rule of the class or something.

XDDD Now I cant get the image of Die as a cat out of my head DX I've made Kyo a cat before (( *cough*)) And now I have the urge to do the same to Die <33

that's about the only french I speak XD;
I have a Japanese penpal and she's really cute.
no misunderstandings yet.. only that.. she doesn't know Dir en grey and she's fan of things such as the RHCP XD it's amusing.
