Panting a girl ran through the rain, a lump underneath her long black jacket she protect with her arms. Water rolled down her braided hair as she panted, "Gotta...gotta get home..." Fearful eyes glance behind her from time to time. She seemed in a panic. Loud noise range behind her as trash cans crashed to the ground, the sound of the pursuit behind her. "Damn it!" she screamed, "How the hell did I get into this?" Droplets splashed into her eyes and she blinked, and with it the memory of the events that happened not so long ago rushed to her mind......
Sitting at a park bench the girl sat with her head tilted back and her arms stretched out over the back of the seat. between two fingers a ID was pinched. Iria Narisato the name read on it. People that walked by stared as they passed. They were not accustom of seeing a person decked out in full black. Every once in a while she'd stare back unnerving them enough for them to leave. She sighed and her braids clicked as she moved, "What to do? I need a job. But I doubt anyone would hire me. And I'm not gonna change myself to look like the others...." The thick material of her black trench coat rustled as she sat up and peered down at her boots. Shaking her head she suddenly stood up causing a man to stop and step back. "What are you looking at?" she questioned before turning and walking off, her hands stuffed down in her pockets. Clouds rolled in and thunder began to rumble, "Great..." she muttered sarcastically, "What a perfect day..." A bright light flashed near her and she nearly screamed as something hit her, forcing Iria to the ground. Her shades clacked across the ground and slide to a stop at the feet of some creature, a beast that was hunched over. A weight on her chest caused her to avert her startled eyes down. There laying on her chest was a blue egg. Aqua colored rings went around it and a yin yang was set on the middle. Larger than a ostrich's egg, Iria had no idea what it came from. The creature before her stood up with a roar, "Give it to me!" Startled she quickly got to her feet, running with the egg held close to her. "What the hell is that! And why is it after this egg?" She could have put it down and just left, but she was drawn to keep it near her, keep it safe. Turning a corner she ducked into a ally way, pressing herself into a recessed door way, hoping she couldn't be seen. With a gulp she looked down at the thing in her arms, a hand running over it's smooth surface. Foot steps and the sound of claws scratching across the hard ground echoed down the small ally way. What was that creature? Where did it come from? Where did this egg come from? And why did that monster want it so badly? These were the questions that ran through her head. Undoing the top two claps of her corset jacket, Iria gently slipped the egg inside, "I really don't think that's one of your parents and I won't allow it to harm you.." she softly whispered to it before dashing out again, running farther down the ally. A blast flew past her, exploding as it made contact with the wall. Fear took it's grip on her as she realized this thing could some how attack from long range. Running out of the ally way and back into the street she ran. But where to go? Home. Home would be safer right? It had to be. She could get help there....
A blast broke Iria of her thoughts. "Digimon realized!" a cry came from some where near by, a boom of a blast, and a pain scream. Looking behind her stood a man and with him another unusual creature, "What the hell?! There's more?" She slowed to a stop to watch, rain dripping from her hair as she watched wide eyed. The two bests clashed in a fierce display of power, the man calling instructions to the newer one. Iria slowly backed away as she watched, holding her precious cargo close. In a burst of light the one that had chased her was gone and the creatures attention was now towards here. Iria's eyes broke from it, glancing towards the sound of foot steps getting closer to her. Something beeped as the guy looked up at her, an item clenched in his hand, "Why were you being chase?" "How the hell should I know?" Iria snapped. "Come now. No need to be snippy." he stepped closer, hand extend towards her. In a quick shuffle she stepped away apprehensive, "Stay back!" Iria barked. "Alright. Alright. I'll keep my distance. But I wonder what it is you hide in your jacket...." Her eye slowly descended down to see a small portion of the shell from inside her coat.
Turning away from him so most of her left side was to him, "What's it to you?" The man crossed his arms, "I work for a group called the DATS. We keep a monitor on digimon activity and w...." "Wait." she interrupted him, "Digimon? What the hell is that?" With a smile he motioned to behind him, a creature that looked like the cross between a human and a lion stared back at her, "That. My dear. Is a digimon. A creature from another place. A place called the digital world." Lowering her head but keeping her eyes trained o him, "And that other thing. It's one of the digimon too?" "It was." "Was?" she repeated, "So....it's....dead?" The man didn't answer, "Let's get back to the point. I believe your hiding something from the digital world. You can either hand it to me or you can join us and keep it." "Join you?" Iria quirked a brow. "Why would any business want me." In truth Iria was not the depressive antisocial person she tried to come off as. Enjoying the style of cloths she wore, she was often teased, picked on, and stero typed because of it. Growing tired of it she slowly began to act as the people would normally view a person in the attire she wore. She did it for the peace it brought. No on bothering her. But now her innocent, kind nature was slowly beginning to show. "And how do I know it's not some kind of trick or a hox?" Slowly raising a hand to show he meant no harm, the man pulled out a card and handed to her, "You can see for yourself. I won't force you to come and give you time to think it over. You have three days to come to a decision. And in three days, it you still have what you are so determined to hide, I'll be able to find you." then turned and walked off. The leomon watched her for a moment, "Be carful. And I hope to see you soon." and did as his master, turning to leave. Her world had been turned upside down. "The digital world. Digimon. DATS." she shook her head, "Why have I never heard of any of htis until now." Thunder crashed over head and the rain began to pick up again. With gentle eyes she glanced down at the thing she had just fought so hard to keep. "Why am I drawn to you little one?" She smiled knowing it wouldn't answer. "Let's go home." and began to head to her apartment building A door closed behind her as Iria entered a building. The outside was some what plain and looked a tad run down. Crossing the open area of the Apartment building Iria walked past the mail boxes and made her way up the stairs. Once at the third floor she walked down a hall way and stopped at a door. 315, a worn metal plate read. With a quick click and a turn of the nob the door was open. She hung her keys on a hook on the wall and put a pouch on a counter. Careful not to drop her precious cargo, the long heavy jacket came off and was hung so it could dry. Settling into a chair she rested the egg between her knees and began pulled off her boots. "Home sweet home." she muttered as she glanced around the small apartment. Her socked feet barely made a noise as she walked to the bath room to retrieve a towel. From there, Iria then went to her room, gently drying the egg as she went. A full size bed sat against one wall, a deep blue comforter draped over it. Taking a smaller blanket Iria wound it up to form a nest where she could rest the egg and get changed. While emptying her pockets on a dressing table that was across from the bed, her eyes rested on the card that had been given to her. "Bah! It's gotta be a hox." she said then took the towel and dried off her braided hair before changing into something dry. After pulling on a gray tank top and dark blue, baggy, cloth pants Iria stretched out on her bed. One arm rested behind her head, the other held her new treasure next to her side. Absent minded-ly, she rubbed her fingers over it, "I wonder if it will become a digimon." she then shuddered at the thought of it attacking her, "God I hop it's not evil." Taking the egg and holding up in front of her face, at arms length, "I have three days to decide. Join them? Or hand you over?" she just didn't feel right about handing the egg over. "I guess we'll check it out tomorrow." Her forhead furrowed, Why am I talking to it..... she shook off her thoughts and rolled over, drifting off to sleep.
The next day and the one that followed, Iria carried the egg with her. Keeping it hidden was fairly easy. A large drawstring purse was perfect to carry the egg. It wasn't strange for a girl to carry a purse. Standing in front of a large building Iria looked down at the card that was given to her then back at the building, "He wasn't lying....." For two days she walked over to see the building but never entered. The morning of the third day Iria stared up at the same set of stairs leading up. A glance to the bag that was draped over her shoulder was soon broke with a sigh, "Well guess I might as well g...." she didn't get to finish her thought. "I see you came." a familiar voice came. "So have you came to a decision?" There he was, standing on the steps looking down at her on the side walk. "What will I have to do to join?" A soft smile uncurled across his face, "There will be training to teach you what you need to know about....our profession. And you'll be taught to understand and work with your partner." "Partner?" All he did was point at the bag on her shoulder. Placing a protective hand on the bag, "Then teach me." she simply replied. Her fondness for the egg had grown in the past few days, she wouldn't relinquish it now. "Good to hear. Come. There is paper work to be tended to. And orientation." Iria nodded and took the first step towards what would change her life forever.
At first weeks, then months past as Iria studied and prepared for the day the digital egg would hatch. Of each day that passed not one went by with out it next to her. The DATS was nothing like she had expected. It was indeed secrative, but she never imagined it was at this magnitude, this size. The building itself had dorms built into it as well as a kitchen and medical center. A railmon linked this branch to it's sister branches. Learning the building was a course all in itself. The people here were also fairly friendly. Amongst the people there were only a few that Iria enjoyed being with. Derrik, Sai, Aria, and Ryuo were some of the few. They made her fell like family instead of a person working at a place. Even though she had a room prepared for her at the HQ, the girl preferred her own apartment for the time being. It was a strange thought to wake up in the place you were employed at.
Laying in her bed Iria stared at the ceiling, one arm behind her head and the other around the egg that was nestled next to her side. Outside a terrible storm was brewing. Thunder boomed and lightening flashed across the sky as the dark clouds threatened to drop their latent load on the city. Shuddering Iria looked over at her bed side table to make sure her flash light was there. As if triggered by her movement, a loud crackling pop made the dark haired girl scream and the lights flickered before completely going out. "Great..." Iria muttered as she leaned up and reached for her flash light. Hearing a thump her heart sank. Please don't be.... getting a hold of the light it was quickly flicked on. To her fear the egg was gone. Getting off her bed she knelled down shining the beam of light on the floor searching, "Please be ok..." was all she could mutter under her breath as she scanned for it. A glint of a dark blue shell cam from under her bed ruffle. In a swift motion it was pulled out and cradled in a lap. The cloth of her wide legged pj pants formed a nest as Iria turned the egg, a expression of worry and stress as she found a crack that stretched over one side. "No..." tears filled her eyes as she looked down at it then pulled it to her chest, "What have I done?" Pressing her cheek to it she sniffed, all her hard work to protect it was wasted, or so she thought. A sudden jostle, the egg shaking made Iria jerk back and hold the egg at arms length, "What the?" The top cracked more and was pushed away, a bushy tail hung out from the shell. Looking down in it. she slowly made out what looked like a furry ball with a fox tail. "It's...cute?" Iria had half expected something like the monster that had chased her, or perhaps the one that helped save her. Like the egg it was a deep blue with what looked to be three teal stripes down its head and rings of the same color around its tail. The end of the little creatures tail had a pale blue, extremely light in contrast to its body. Scooping down into the egg Iria gently lifted the little thing out and set the empty egg of to the side. Opening up bright colored eyes that stood off from it's face, Iria stared in amazement at it. In a flash a stream of bubbles and something that seemed like cooing came from it. At first she was startled, fearing an attack of malice was set forth, but as she peeks her eyes back opened the lights came back on. The room was a field of floating bubbles. Speechless all Iria could do was stare at it in wonder before looking back at the fur ball. A warm smile unfurled from her lips. "And here I was afraid you would be a foul beast or monster." It wagged its tail and cooed some more. "A name. You need a name." Lightening flashed again and the lights made a buzzing noise as Iria took in the creatures physical appearance. "Static. That's what I'm going to call you." Cuddling him close, her fingers ran over it, "My little Static." Nuzzling her check Static yawned. "Seems you have the same idea I have." Iria laughed then crawled back into her bed. She shoved the flash light under her pillow then laid her new baby next to her. She smiled as Static nuzzled close to her before she drifted off to sleep.
