I just got this year's summer reading assignment.

We're reading The Agony and the Ecstacy. Holy crap. My brother had to read it for his freshman year and that book is fuh-reaking MASSIVE.

From what I've heard, it's a 800-900 page novel about the life of Michelangelo based on 450 letters he wrote to some dude.


I don't think sex would be anywhere in there. D:

The teacher who is taking over next year's class said, "Yes, it was quite agonizing for me to read as a freshman, too. [she's an alumni teaching at this school] But it's quite ecstatic for me to teach it!"


Go figure. I remember my brother said the dude went on for five pages describing some garden. gonk

Hopefully the book is good and enriching for my appreciation of literature and allows me to allude to it when I do timed writings.

Next year's theme in my English cycle is "Man's Search for Meaning". So maybe this exemplifies Michelangelo's search for meaning. I don't know.
