Her make shift umbrella was all well and good, but maintaining a small stream of water overhead was making her arm tired after walking for close to two hours. Finally, the woman's stubborn streak seemed to relent.
She found herself taking shelter in an outcropping of rocks to wait out the rain, making a note to purchase an umbrella in the next town she passed through, if pricing was reasonable, that was. For now her temporary abode would do. It was certainly not much of anything to catch the eye, but at lesat it kept her dry.
She withdrew her map to refer to, fingering the worn skin as she trailed her progress. Where -was- the next town, was the question. She'd need to stock up on a few things as well, so plotting a course to reach the nearest destination point was hardly a waste of time. After deciding on a course of action, Meilin rolled the map back up and put it back into it's place on her belt, getting herself comfortable with a bit of rain water (for waterbending practice) to wait out the rest of the downpour.

"Grandpa, I don't think we should be driving in this storm. Remember what happened last time?" Queried a young earthbender to her grandfather. Her grandfather did remember what happened last time they drove in such weather. They crashed and it took a week to fix the cart. But the old man didn't really care at the moment. He was feeling lucky. "I'm feeling lucky!" He shouted to the back of the cart where his granddaughter was sitting very cramped in between various odds and ends. "Besides," He continued. "we'll get to the next town faster with less stops!" The girl grunted and queried again. "And just what is the next town, oh respected elder?" She only addressed him as such when she was annoyed. The 'respected elder' took awhile before answering but he did. This is what he said. "I have no idea!" He chuckled. But it wasn't very funny. The girl in the back of the cart scrambled her way up to where her grandfather was driving and if he weren't driving (and her grandfather who she didn't actually dislike but was miffed at) she would have yelled louder. "How can you not know?! You're a mapmaker!" Her grandfather nodded in agreement. "That's true....but I never said I was a very good one!" He then proceeded to laugh in a manner most befitting to his senility. But his granddaughter only hung her head in shame until she noticed something moving near the road ahead. Could it have been a person, she wondered? One way to find out was to ask. "Hello? Is someone there?" ((Sorry it's so long. >.< I got on a roll. You don't have to respond if you don't want to.))

Meilin's expression never softened as she looked up at the call. Heck, she would have been glad to ignore the company either way, but didn't have that luxury. She stared out of her little rock-abode at the strangers on their cart, blinking calm blue eyes. Travelers...
"Yes."
... Well, she only asked if someone was there, no more than that. Linny wasn't the type to volunteer information................ normally (and this is precisely why she avoided all manner of "festive" drinks).

Qiao peered out of the cart, holding onto her hat in case it blew away. "You alright out there?" She was quickly pushed out of the way by her grandfather who wanted to see what was going on. "Oh, look! It must be some sort of rain spirit!" He wiggled his fingers in a mystical fashion. "Invite it in, Qiao! They're good luck!" The girl gave a grunt as her grandfather went back inside. "It's not a rain spirit, you old fart!" She called out to the figure again. "But you can come in anyway!"
