We're excited to offer you this fabulous publication and, while it is a rather small one, we hope it can grow each and every month as more and more of you realize submitting to it is simply the cool thing to do! ******************************************************************************** [ WHAT'S NEW AT NNL? ]Pocket Numas, that's what!!
Pocket Numas are the newest sub-species discovered at NNL! These tiny Numas are a minuscule 1/8th the size of normal Numas, putting them at only about six inches tall! They're extremely energetic, loving nothing more than being chased as they dart each way, eluding your capture. If you happen to be in shape, however, and successfully snatch one... stick the little bugger immediately in your pocket! Exhausted from the chase, they'll curl up and fall asleep. After that, they'll never wish to leave, and you'll have yourself a new friend!
Pocket Numas can breed with adult Numas and amongst one another, although more Pocket Numas will only be the result of a PocketxPocket breeding.
Pocket Numas are all uniquely edited to correspond with the Pokémon they've been inspired by. They're one stage (with the exception of Pokéball-eggs for Gen 2+) and ALL of them come on the base linearts shown to the right. Any and all Pokémon customs will be of the Pocket Numa sub-species; no exceptions!
Every one of the ~465 Pokémon can become a Pocket Numa, but once a Pokémon has been done, it's taken forever! There will NEVER be two of the same species unless a breeding occurs. However, evolutions are unrelated in this matter; if Dragonair is taken, this does not mean one cannot obtain Dratini or Dragonite, for example.
The very first Pocket Numa Event will take place soon, likely in May, and be centered around Diamond & Pearl. Containing mostly games, this event will ONLY feature the newest Pokémon. That said, there will also be numerous customs available through auction and a contest, and these can be for ANY of the ~465 Pokémon! Considering Pocket Numas are entirely unobtainable as normal customs, we suggest taking use of this opportunity to get first dibs on the most popular and/or older species! ********************************************************************************
******************************************************************************** [ GUMMY GWEE! ]The May Gummy Gwee goes to the smallest shop yet, a cute little place called Naula. Escaping the notice of most B&C regulars, Naula is a very sweet shop offering baskets full of awesome. Along with having adorable artwork, creative hatching sequences and a simple, yet clean, layout, Naula is (to this Gaian's knowledge) the only all-female pet shop around, offering NO male pets at all!
Activity may be minimal and a little slow, but that's a price paid due to the shop's smallness. However, growings are still reliable and timely (unlike many larger shops) and the pets are all clearly given individual care. So go check it out and give them your support and love! Tofu, DFA and Myla all love you, Naula!

******************************************************************************** "Happy Year and 7/8ths, NNL!"By: Roving Reporter ~Sinecura~
Something wonderful was born in the B/C on August 21, 2005. What, you may ask? Why, Numa Numa Land of course, Mr. Silly! It was then that Happy Tofu and Dark Fire Angel let us into their amazing, sugar-filled imaginations and personally, I think the B/C has been a little bit better for it.
But Numa Numa Land was not always the success it is today. Sure, interest was high both before and during the very first event. But, sadly, that interest seemed to wane once the first lucky winners had obtained their Numas. As wonderful as the art and coloring was, people were not flocking to Numa Numa Land the way they do today. This reporter recalls that time well. I watched Numa Numa Land struggle and fight to hold its own for just a little over half a year. And boy, did this little shop hold on.
For a long time, I was the only person posting. Then, TrinityCowgirl found her way back and a wonderful friendship between Numa and human was born. My Numa, Jisa, found her true love in Trin's Sir Donnis, and not long after, on Valentine's Day 2006, Jisa and Sir Donnis welcomed the very first feathers into NNL.
As new little lives entered, so too did the people, people who began to realize that a small treasure lurked within the B/C. A shop where people were kind and generous, and where people didn't have to fear being ignored.
However, like any shop, NNL has it's share of good and bad. Though, in this reporter's rather biased opinion, the good outweighs the bad by a thousandfold. Drama and making people feel bad are not tolerated. And so, humans and Numas co-existed peacefully.
Soon, a new group was welcomed into the fold: the Marshmallow Chocobos. These adorable avians were welcomed with open arms and yet another branch of interspecies cooperation was born. Though the Chocobos prefer to remain hidden, I feel that NNL was most assuredly benefited by their coming.
So much has happened since that quiet day I first met Tofu, DFA and the Numas. NNL remains my favorite shop within the B/C. I'm not around as much as I like, it's true. Alas, that' the price I pay for being a responsible adult. But I know that when I come home from work, Jisa and her family and all the amazing friends I've made in NNL are there. And I know I'm always welcome.
And so, it with with a deep love and respect for what Tofu and DFA have created, that I wish Numa Numa Land a very happy semi-birthday.
And may there be many more to follow. ********************************************************************************
******************************************************************************** "Reflection Of Parenthood"By: Xiáng-huǒ
My human friend asked me if I wanted to write something for the premier issue of Snack On *This*!; I was interested at once but unsure on what to write about. She told me, "write what you know," and so I sat down and this is what I came up with. I think I know enough about two things to write an interesting article: my family, and cooking. I'm not so sure how my kids would feel about me telling everyone all about the cute things they did as pups, nor do I think all of Numa Numa Land wants to read about it, even if they were the cutest pups this land has seen in an age.
So, "how does it feel to be a parent?" I hold my pen above the page for minutes. If I was looking for a one-word answer, I would say 'indescribable', but then this would be a very short letter. After some deep breaths, and thoughts that are more coherent come to mind, I feel complete. In truth, my mate Renem knows this; I was lonely and felt a misfit as a pup. When I met him, life began to fall into place, and soon after that our prayers were answered and three little lives came to us. They've grown into adults now, and I don't see them as often as I like, but I still feel it, a connection. They test me; give me hope and joy and love. I feel as if the world is a brighter place because of them (and not just because two of them are lit with flames.) I hope that they continue to bring light to this world and that one day they have pups of their own and can know this feeling for themselves.
To the couples that are waiting for the Swan to bless them with feathers, do not give up; when the time is right, when you are ready, it will happen. Maybe you'll be able to describe how they make you feel better than I have. However, I think I've expressed myself honestly.
Maybe I should have written about food. ********************************************************************************
