 Gwen & A Cabbage
Being a mother was not all that it was cracked up to be. Not only was she to take care of this....cabbage? but she also had the responsibility of now taking care of two infant children, which actually came from her own womb. It was stressful, indeed.
She had yet to tell her mate, Sanctus, of the fact they were going to be having another bundle of joy join them, but she figured for the moment, he really didn't need to know. He was always busy with his work after all, guarding the Queen, making sure their daughter didn't attack the youngest Prince. Guard like duties. Now was certainly not the time to tell him, "Hi honey! We have another one to look after!"
Yeah...That would be bad.
Instead Gwen took to hiding their new little joy in the Palace greenhouse. She had already made arrangements with the Queen to section off a small patch where the cabbage would be, so as to not be taken and accidentally chopped up by the cooks. She stopped by every day to care for it, tell it stories, do the whole mothering thing, before quickly retreating to children she gave birth to.
Today she had actually decided to introduce one of her children to the cabbage, and regardless the many times she explained to the toddler that one day it would be a baby just like she had been, the child just sat there and looked at her mother as if she was crazed and foaming at the mouth.
"Sweetheart, it'll be your baby sister or brother. Aren't you even in the least excited?" Gwen muttered, petting her daughter's raven hair.
The child merely gave her mother another look before giving off a hiss, her favorite thing to do to most people, it seemed. She definitely took after the stereotypical dragon female. Confrontational, and bold. Her younger brother, Altar, never did such a thing, granted he took after his mother in her gentle and confusing ways as a Hind.
This made Gwen wander for a moment what type of child was going to come out of this cabbage. How would it react with her other children? And most importantly...How odd would it look in their family? Two Hinds, two Dragons. That's what they're family comprised of. Hoofed wonders, and scaled ferocity.
In the moment it took for Gwen to wander off into thought, her daughter was already poking at the cabbage with a stick she found nearby. When Gwen realized this she snapped at the girl, smacking her hand hard. "You don't do that to your future sibling, you hear me? We don't need it coming into this world messed up or anything."
She than fed the cabbage, watered the cabbage, and scooped up her daughter to head home after giving the cabbage a bedtime story. She would be back in the morning to do the exact same thing. Maybe this time she would bring Altar with her, his sister was too feisty to handle something like this without acting like she needed to dominate it.

 Gwen
Last night my mate found out about our little cabbage. Needles to say he's quite confounded about the whole situation. I think the dragon in him bars him from understanding out-of-the-ordinary situations as the one we are presently in.
Suzumi seems to feel threatened by the little cabbage and tried to use it as a soccer ball. I had to stop her quickly, of course. Raising children isn't an easy task. I find little time for myself or with Sanctus. We actually dumped the two rugrats off with their Grandmother this evening to go out to eat, drink and hopefully end the evening with some much needed sex. But enough about my hoping...
My son Altar seemed to have adjusted well to the idea of having another sibling, though at first he thought the cabbage was food of some sort. the boy eats way too much as is, but he's growing so I suppose it's ok. I just know I have not been feeding him cabbage and if I find him with one, well....we know which one it is at least.
I have yet to tell the Prince of my new coming child, granted I don't know if I want to tell that little pompous jackass anything. Hell, I haven't even shown him Suzumi or Altar yet. Not like he would care, he's way too busy attempting to get into his sisters invisible panties. Those two make me wanna blow chunks of disgust sometimes...
But back to cabbages and my family. Suzumi keeps complaining it smells like a unicorn. I don't understand how she would know if it's a unicorn or not, it just smells like a cabbage to me. Yet she's very insistent upon it. I really do think she is going to have a grudge against this child...Probably because she doesn't want anyone taking her golden place next to her Daddy away.
I'll have to be cautious when the child emerges than. Don't need Toddler VS. Baby squabbles. Which makes me wonder...Little cabbage, when are you going to become a child? I've had you for so very long and all you do is wiggle and grow fat. when is this baby that's supposed to be you going to sprout out and show yourself to me? Don't keep me waiting too long...
Augh. I need to sleep. Sanctus is back on duty in the morning and I must attend to the Queen when she returns, and make sure the King doesn't badger her son of where they have been. Last thing we need his him going on a witch-hunt...

 Gwen
Yesterday was indeed an interesting experience. Bal and Altar went with my everywhere like usual, and I decided to give up on telling Suzumi what to do for the day because it just seemed she would never listen (toddlers and their terrible behaviors, she needs more discipline from her father).
I stopped to change Bal in the palace courtyard when one of Sanctus' first six children (dear lord, who knows how many kids my man has, granted we never do talk to them), Gnosis comes over with Suzumi, who's head is bandaged up and she's laying unconscious. I asked him what happened after finishing changing Bal, who by this time had a nice hunk of my hair in his fist, and Gnosis goes on to tell me she slipping into the water fountain and bonked her head. Good lord, that child.
I had to have Altar carrying Bal home to Sanctus, while I carried Suzumi. When we got back I handed her over to Sanctus and asked if she would be ok since I know nothing about unconsciousness. All I know about it is they sleep and don't wake up for a little while. Sanctus said she would be ok, and I was relieved.
Altar than wanted ups, and Bal didn't look happy being carried by Altar anymore, so I gave both the spoiled brats up time. Open thing led to another and I was giving Sanctus a quick kiss and Bal snatched onto his hair. Sanctus gave me this look and I told him Bal was going through the grabby stage, and Sanctus didn't look too happy. I wouldn't say he looked displeased as he did cautious of Bal right now. Having your hair tugged by a baby hurts, it really does. So Sanctus told me I wouldn't get anymore kisses while I held Bal and I told Bal to let go of Daddy's hair or else Mommy would die of lack of kisses and everything went to hell...
Altar started screaming and crying, and than Bal started screaming and crying and I had to hiss at Sanctus to give me a damn hiss so both would calm down before they threw up lunch on me. Of course this didn't quite work out as they were still crying.
Altar cried and made kissy faces at me and I sighed finally figuring out that little jealous Altar wanted kissies too. To make things fair I also gave Bal a kissy. It was like a miracle because both shut up immediately...
Sanctus thinks I'm letting the two run all over me. I'm starting to think he's right...Granted it's my first time as a mother and there will always be new learning experiences to go with it.
He'll live.
