My brother found a pet turtle in the middle of the road, so he picked it up and he put it in our back yard with fresh water in a plastic tub. The turtle escaped and now is swiming in our pool. Does any one know if chlorine is terribly bad for the turtle? Every time we put it back in its crate it literally runs to the pool.

i guess not, its seems the turtle likes it or maybe becasue the pool is bigger than the plastic tub and maybe a little bit deeper

Chlorinated water is not a good Idea! arrow

Most people don’t realize the danger of chlorine in water. Although, chlorine is universally used to disinfect water, it is not safe for drinking, showering or bathing. In fact chlorine is very dangerous for our health. It is like sitting on a time bomb. Many experts on health have suggested that continuous exposure to chlorine can cause life threatening diseases to both man and animals. Cancer, heart trouble, premature senility, both mental and physical are some of the diseases that can happen to man when exposed to chlorine in air. It is one of the agents that make us grow old before time by producing symptoms of ageing such as hardening of the arteries. Even studies on animals have shown that exposure to chlorine via inhalation may alter disease resistance in animals. These animals have reported decreased body gain, eye and nose irritation and effects on the respiratory tract, liver and kidney.

I have a pet turtle too. His name is Zero. It is named that because my brother is obsessed with WW2 and the Zero was a kind of plane. The plane was green with a red dot on each wing. Our turtle that we foung in our pool is a red-eared-slider turtle and is green with red dots.

I don't think it's gonna kill him any time soon, but I'd get him out as soon as you can.
