As some of you know, Earth Day was just recently here. And, in honor, my science slass ent outside to pick up trash around the school.
So the next day, I find a new round of trash all over the school. And I'm like" What the heck? It was so clean yesterday! No one cares about the enviroment!"
Do you think Earth Day taught anyone anything?

I think for some people earth day is just a holiday to pass over, while others enjoy the opportunity to help the environment.

Of course Earth day is helpful.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, any efforts to try to clean up our planet are never in vain.
It probably hasn't taught a broad range of people much, as people in general don't even know when Earth Day is. stare
But for the younger generation, with the right teachers, it can teach one alot.

The problem is that we should make each day of the year an Earth Day. Because we live ON Earth, and without it, or if things worse, we'll be endangered. Money and Politics are poisons

I think that any day that promotes helping the environment is good. People just don't care sometimes. They do a "oh it's Earth Day, better recycle and be good today" and then the next day they are back to their old habbits. I think that in order for Earth Day to really be effective people need to be taught at an early age about conservation of resources, so that it becomes second nature. Then maybe we won't even need an Earth Day.

To be honest I didn't even know it was Earth day till someone mentioned it to me. =/ I think Earth Day is a great holiday and all but really it's either pointless or underrated. I have to agree with Miss TiramiZu, that everyday should be Earth Day. Escpically with all this talk of us destroying the planet. The fact is few really care about Earth Day. Normally it's just people that care the whole year, people who just don't care at all, and the select few that are quilted into doing something eco-friendly one day out of the whole year.

It's always the same song. The day we will really be worried of what we do on the planet will be too late coz the bad is done. What we do is so easy, and to undo that will be so difficult that we will preffer the facility

Honestly, I think it's depressing how everyone made such a big deal of Earth Day this year--but nothing ever really changes. It's become a fad to care about the environment, I think, but like most fads... it isn't that people care about the underlying cause, it's just what's popular. I don't think Earth Day is a bad thing, per se, but I think a lot of people use it as an excuse to act environmentally-conscious one day out of the entire year, which isn't really the point.

It is a chance for young people to get educated about the environmental problems and some solutions. But only if the people putting on an Earth Day Event design it to do that Beyond, Earth Day is a great time for various environmental groups to get together, compare notes, pass on what they are learning and doing to each other. And you never know... some adults may begin to take the problems seriously. Earth Day - it's worth a shot.

I live in the middle of the Mojave desert. No one celebrates Earth Day here.

Earth Day is not a Holiday and it never should be. It's merely a day such as Remembrance day; where we take some time out of our day to show respect in this case to our earth by cleaning up the enviorment. I don't know, I have strong views about our enviorment. Sometimes I think we should just stop trying and let the idiots who don't care watch what happens. They're going to be the ones complaining when their TV's won't work because a garbage dump was put in place of the electrical plant.

Most of my friends aren't even aware that it was Earth Day. So this coming Earth Day, I plan on making my friends help me clean our eviornment on Earth Day! We will plant a couple of trees, clean up the litter scattered along the highways and publics streets, and instead of riding in cars, we can ride our bikes or walk. It will even give ourselves more exersice. Dont wash your cars or take long showers. Save some energy by using enviornmentally safe candles!
There is so much stuff we could do on Earth Day. If we all work together, we can all help save our enviornment.

But why do that? Just because they don't care, doesn't mean we should stop. I personally would like to be in a good planet thats clean and beautiful. If they dont want to help, then thats their problem, but why make it ours? Not only will they have no electricity, we won't either. Not only will their property be made into a garbage dump, but so will ours.
