Washington D.C. has a delegate in Congress, but that person is not allowed to vote on laws. Would you support or oppose new legislation giving D.C. a full voting member in the U.S. House of Representatives?

Why should D.C. have a member in congress if they can't vote doesn't that defeat the purpose?

Congress is about to pass a bill to give Utah another district and D.C the right to vote in congress.

We need to nationalize our voting system for federal elections. I think it's just dumb that we consider the right to vote basically fundamental, and still have anomalies like D.C. and Puerto Rico. If we’re going to go by the Bush v. Gore precedent, where we can’t hold recounts unless ballots are collected and counted in the same way, it seems to me that we shouldn’t have a federal election where voting laws vary by state. I have no problem with states running their own elections, but the time has come for the states to back off when it comes to national elections.

yeah if its a federal election the states should let the federal gov. run the elections instead of each state doing it there own way. the voting laws shouldent very by state they should al be the same. and i think that D.C. should get a vote in congress because its our capital but the other places such as puerto rico, guam, the marianas, or the virgin islands shouldent get a vote becuase there just terratories and not part any state.

I agree with James. D.C. should be able to vote, and the territories shouldn't.

Not to get off topic, but why wouldn't you agree with yourself?
