I'm sorry, but I really don't see what this study is trying to prove. I would consider parts of it useful when it comes to documenting the kind of person who believes in this stuff. Except for one problem. It's a questionnaire, and questionnaires are reknowned in the social science community for not getting detailed data, for gleaning false responses and for having a low reply rate. For the proper information regarding something of this subject, it really needs to be a face-to-face interview or a case of participant observation.

As for the rest of the questions? Well, honestly, I think they're pipe dreams looking for a biological answer when all you're going to find is a mental one. I mean, come on, you're asking questions which require belief in the first place. This is like me doing a survey on Christians and asking how many of them believe in God and how many people in their family were Christians.

I think it's more in the spirit of being used in the community rather than a "see, we're not crazy" kind of proof.

I didn't really see how it would prove or accomplish anything when I heard about it, but I participated just to say I did. The more data that comes out of it, the more I find myself realizing a few things about vampires.

As someone else has said, it's sort of flawed in the "energy community" aspect, as most of the questions are directed at vampires first, and at energy workers second.

It'll be interesting being able to use the surveys data against people when the final data comes out.

What's the point in using a survey in a community in which people have absolutely no set definitions of anything? All you're going to get is a bunch of people delivering their own stories of how they became to be energy manipulators with no direct pattern, except that which ties in with already existing texts written on the subject before the test was designed.

All you're going to get is an influx of varying cultural beliefs with absolutely nothing related to genetics in the slightest. You want to do a study on genetics of energy manipulators? You need biological samples and a lab, not some people answering questions on the internet which can be lied about in full.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the use of this at all. It's providing nothing in the way of facts to a community who have already made up their mind about the subject. You might as well give an evolutionary psychologist a questionnaire saying "Dude, is Darwin right and is your science real?".

LOL

Anyway, I've taken it and it doesn't really ask for anything about genetics or physicality as far as the energy manipulation aspect goes. As I've said though, it's aimed more at those that identify as vampires, and the "energy manipulator" thing feels sort of tacked on to the end.

The survey gives definitions of the terms it asks questions about. I think they want the influx of varying cultural beliefs. I believe the whole thing is just to gather info and see what correlates. But as I said, the whole thing seems aimed more at vampires first, and energy manipulators as an afterthought. I don't expect it to accomplish miracles or anything, but I do believe the gross data will be interesting, especially as far as the trends of vampirism go.

I expect to be able to point to the study as a means of disproving the "we're born vampires and can't change it" idea. But that's me. It'll still be a few months before they're done with the data input. I think everyone wants something different out of this, but I think the main idea is seeing how many self-identified vampires have similar traits/abilities/whatever.

I'm also rather interested on how everything will be interpreted by those running the survey, even though the raw data will be released as well. I think it has the potential to either unite the vampire community, or destroy it.

This study is a mixed methodological study of specific subcultural social group(s) (or independents) linked by an association with specific reported phenomena and is directed towards both an online and offline audience via quantitative and qualitative dual anonymous surveys. For the detailed purpose, definition and precedent background, ethical and privacy procedures, and all other information regarding this privately funded study please refer to the surveys themselves or the web site listed above.

Focus Group: Those who identify themselves as practitioners of modern psychic (psi) or sanguinarian (blood) vampi(y)rism with a joint focus on energy workers or practitioners (psions, energetic healers, or others who manipulate psi/pranic energy). Additionally those who identify with therianthropy, otherkin, and as being "awakened" individuals are sub-branched in the overall classification.

Format: Two surveys (both structured to be independent or linked with one another, with first being an introductory examination and the second an advanced examination), anonymous participation requirement, embedded random+intentional response indicators, available in MSWord, HTML Text Format, or Printed Distributed Format. VEWRS (Survey 1) = Questions 1 - 379 (11 Categories); AVEWRS (Survey 2) = Questions 380 - 988 (5 Categories)

These surveys have transformed into a very important body of information for the vampire and even energy worker community (energy worker response accounts for nearly 18-20%) and we have been working with institutions, researchers, media, and other individuals throughout 2007 to advance a sane, rational, and responsible image of the community as well as lobbying for future research and interest from the academic and scientific communities - much of what we do goes unnoticed to the vampire community but is more important than you may realize! Having a large body of data to work with from a diversity of individuals is vital to the success of this study. We have received over 600+ VEWRS & 300+ AVEWRS survey since we began this study - far in excess of what we ever hoped to have gathered. If you know of ANYONE who has yet to complete their surveys for WHATEVER reason please speak with them and encourage them to complete at least VEWRS (Part 1) and refer them to the following FAQ that lays out in plain English why this study is being conducted, why it is so important, and how everyone stands to benefit by participating. If they have ANY questions refer them to our e-mail and we will be more than happy to take the time to answer any and all questions or concerns: research@suscitatio.com
