Today while trying not to doze off in my Philosophy Lit class, I noticed that one of the girls presenting was wearing a t-shirt that said "abortion" on it. A closer look showed that her shirt had a nearly fully-developed fetus picture on it, in utero. The picture was lined with "hands...fingers...feet" etc, etc. And then below it were the words "What part of ABORTION do you not understand?"
Now, at first I had no idea if it was a pro-choice or pro-life t-shirt. The phrase "what part of ABORTION do you not understand?" had no pro-life undertones in my view (though the picture did). So I was very confused.
Later in the day, though, I saw several people wearing the same t-shirt and the back said "National Pro-Life T-Shirt Day".
Of course, I was ticked that they were using a nearly-developed fetus as an emotional ploy. And that they thought the argument "it has hands and feet and fingers, therefore it's wrong to kill it!" was legitimate. I didn't say anything to them (it's their right to wear a t-shirt, however propaganda-filled it is), but it got me thinking for the rest of the day.
I had never heard of any "National Pro-___ T-shirt Day" before. Is there one for pro-choice? Has anyone else heard of this?

wow, what a stark difference between opposing sides. they were wearing a blatant propaganda ridden pro-life t-shirt and you said nothing to them because (and i agree, i would have done the same) they have the right to their own t-shirts. HOWEVER, if you would have been wearing a pro-choice t-shirt, they (at least one pro-lifer, anyway) probably would have flipped s**t and called you a baby killing whore. confused
i've never heard of a national pro-(whatever) t-shirt day. afraid i can't help there, though that would be kinda neat to have a day where all the pro-choicers wore pro-choice t-shirts.

I should print a T-shirt with my sig image on the front, and on the back "Seriously. If you want a kid so bad, adopt one."

Hey, it's gotten to the point where I'm so pissed off I'd wear a pro-choice shirt. But that pro-life t-shirt day is kinda silly.
But then.... I guess so is my beloved Day of Silence, where Gay-Straight Alliance members go a day without speaking to symbolize the "silencing" of gay people by social stigmas and fear of violence and isolation. ....I'm hoping the lifers stole our duct-tape-mouth thing and not the other way around. (We don't use duct tape anymore, though, because of the pain. We use surgical masks and creative ribbons and stuff.)
And in another off-topic ramble: I saw a cool shirt today that was totally unrelated. It had Uncle Sam on it and said something like "Join the Army! Travel to exotic places, meet exciting, interesting people, and kill them."
