I've read a lot about the Swedish Hypocrisy lately, though I get generally mixed opinions. I wonder if anyone can recommend an album that will give me the best overview of their sound?

I was thinking about getting something from their mid period to start off with, people call their later stuff "Mallcore" but I'm dubious about that, since it's usually just a sign that they put a bit of an up-to-date edge on their sound. I'm surprised I haven't been bombarded with kvlt recommendations for "Penetralia" and "Osculum Obscenum" yet. xd Might also get one of them, because I do have a soft spot for death metal.

Actually, the one album WAS mallcore. They said it was something they had to get out of their system, but their newest album isn't. Their mid period stuff is typical Swedish melo-death, only Peter uses more of a vocal range than most melo-death vocalists. If you have to get something from that era I reccommend the S/T or Abducted.

Hypocrisy is pretty good. Their leadsinger is the dude in Pain, or, well, he is Pain. I think Pain is better than Hypocrisy, especially the Nothing Remains The Same album, love the beatles (Elinor Rigby) cover. Not that great a hypocrisy fan though, got some random songs on my computer.
