This topic is about encounters with spirits, gods, and the like, as well as stories of exorcisms. Post them here.

Ever come across a nasty being with a nasty personality? How did you handle it?

How about a benevolent spirit you've met that you'll never forget?

Not having many paranormal experiences of my own, nor exhibiting any gifts of sorts, I'm pretty much a skeptic when it comes to "conversations". There was this one experience I had, perhaps. I suppose I'll share it.

Last year, I was laying in bed, thinking hateful, hateful thoughts about a few certain people. I was thinking about how to destroy them.

And then I had an idea. There's a certain feeling one gets when they come across a sort of "evil" realization, when they realize to their glee that they have finally thought up the "perfect" plan, and such, you know, that cliché sort of thing with the bad guy on the brink of evil laughter.

This idea had something to do with trees...yeah, that sounds odd, but when I recall it, all I can muster up is an image of these people encased in a tree, asleep, or dead, or something. So bear with me there.

Anyway, at the height of this WONDERFUL thought, I heard a voice inside my mind, in the tones of the deepest chords. I don't remember what it said, but for the sake of completion, I'll venture it was...

YOU THINK YOU KNOW TRUE DARKNESS!?

Needless to say, I was scared out of my mind, sitting up, thinking about what had just happened. I managed to calm myself, however, because I knew if I did not do it right away I would stay awake with my thoughts and fears. I fell asleep shortly.

I must state that this is something I am very skeptical about. I have no proof, I was tired, it was most likely my subconscious kicking in before sleep had reached me. I have merely posted this for material to contribute to the topic.

Now, I'm ready for your stories.

Well, to hit the "benevolent" part, yes I've met a very benevolent God. Ra is certainly a very kind and slow to anger deity. As for speaking to deities, I've only really spoke to Bast on this side. I have memories of a few others from before I came here but thats about it, in the case of spirits, I talk to them whenever I get the chance.

Not really sure what else to say, my only exorcism story isn't that exciting.

hm, not really sure if its a god or anything but here it goes.

I have had this one friend of mine, for almost as long as possible, she was nice and very pretty, never really told anyone about her because I thought nothing about it, just recently she disappeared and never really came back, I remember her saying goodbye before hand but I thought she just meant she was going home. you see she was a childhood friend, my parents only met her once, but last week I was sitting outside on our front step, when my mom came out to ask me what I was doing, I said I was waiting for her to show up, my mom stunned for a moment said she has been dead for over a year, I looked at her and said that it wasnt possible, since I saw her just the other day.

yeah I know, Ignorance is bliss >.> I was friends with a "ghost" for over a year.

Wow. Got a few of these. I'll share the shorter ones for ease of reading.

The worst (short) one was some guy waiting outside my back door with an ax. Keep in mind that I was journeying, and I use a tree in my backyard as a starting point. For whatever reason, during this journey I had trouble getting directly there, so I left my body and walked out through the back door. Which is when this guy leered and hit me (this is spiritually, mind) with a downward swing of the ax. I got bumped immediately back to where I was laying and sat up gasping. Later that day I had a miscarriage (I was maybe a month along). From what I saw, it looked like the umbilical cord had been severed. That night I journeyed right the hell back out there, armed, grabbed him by the throat, then sent him instead of ripping his head off. "Sent" meaning the column of light and all that jazz. I figured it was better to get rid of him permanently than rip him limb from limb. Last thing I wanted was to see his a** back. Like, *ever*. b*****d.

There was the spirit my mom exorcised from a patient. She got it out, but then couldn't figure out how to get rid of it - it kept wandering around the outside of the office, shaking the walls. She's afraid to talk to them (spirits like that), so I offered. I like to chat with them, I do okay working with them that way. Turns out this one was a mountain spirit the lady picked up while driving through an area that was being dynamited for road expansion. Apparently the thing just got scared at being suddenly without a body, so it grabbed a convenient one, even if it was the wrong shape. I gave it a spiritual equivalent to live in, and it was happy. Incidentally, and amusingly, the woman's bra size went down a bit after the mountain left, about which she was pretty happy.

One of my first spirits that I visited (before I got proper training and realized I shouldn't have) was Poison Ivy. I actually really like her, and she has beautiful eyes. She helps me heal people with that "do unto others before they do unto you" personal boundary issue. In theory, that should be done with a tincture, but since hers would be toxic she gave me a tone/song chant. I don't sing it out loud because I'm horribly self-conscious about that sort of thing. The only real problem with her is that she gets really upset whenever I try to eradicate poison ivy from my back yard. I've explained about protecting my children, but she's still not thrilled. At least she stopped making me pass out every time I tried.

So there - one baddie, one confused, one helpful.

One of my particularly nasty ones involved something I have yet to identify. One of my friends had called to it, realized that it was out of her league, and a friend of hers sent it away. She had just gotten off the phone with me when her friend did, and it decided to come to me, I guess. I never really saw it's appearance, but I could feel it around (that creepy-crawly shivery feeling) and I'd get crushing chest pain and it would be hard to breathe. It also gave me headaches.

Of course, I just could have been paranoid and legitamately sick, but it only seemed to happen when I let my sheild down or didn't maintain it. Eventually I just got really good at sheilding and it left me alone. I haven't had a problem with anything like it since then.

sweatdrop Well, it's an aspect of my profession *and* a hobby, so I've got a million of 'em.

Love your sig, btw. Ever seen a horrible 80s flick called "Highway to Hell", starring Rob Lowe? Okay, technically neither have I, but I saw a part of it, involving the post-kill quip: "Scoop your *own* brains." Ice cream scoops have amused me ever since...

Nah, I've never seen the movie, but I'll probably end up doing so, someday. Things tend to happen like that.
I came up with the phrase sitting around at a Robotics club meeting, talking with my friend about life. Subtly morbid things like that amuse me, so I wrote it down for later use.

More tales of the weird and entities...

Since one of the effects of the Qi Gong form I teach is to aid spirits in passing on, I had an interesting kaleidoscope of encounters when I was finishing my training. I turned into a sort of magnet for confused spirits. I was able to ignore them during the day, but my dreams turned into a sort of queue for spirits wanting to talk to me. Weirdest dang conversations I've ever had - see, as a general rule they're hanging about due to a critical point of confusion. So they'd hang about talking to me about their own views, trying to convince me theirs was the right way of seeing things, and I'd listen and explain where the mistake was. Some of them got pissed and left exasperated (and often came back later), some of them just needed to talk to someone in order to let go and move on, and some of them got the point. Since their visual manifestation tended to indicate where they were skewed, I learned a lot about what to look for in patients, which was nice. Eventually, the rush tapered off and I went back to being able to sleep in peace. Now they only get bad when I stop practicing my Qi Gong (I assume it's because I'm still a magnet, but the practice shunts them out as they show up). I've also learned to set wards around the house so we can't be bothered without invitation.
