((omg I could picture a romantic scene, Methos hands her a rose and they gaze at each others eyes, and then Artemis takes a bite out of it and it doesn't phase Methos one bit. xDDD))
Eri reappeared in the doorway with drinks just as Jinx began to explain the chess set to Ran.
"Well, I'm not very good at chess. But I do know the rules. I'd be happy to teach you sometime," Jinx replied. "I play generally when there's nothing else to do," he said sheepishly. "It's more fun to roam the house and climb on things...." He gasped when saw Eri standing at the door. "Did I say climbing on things? I meant..uh...rhyming...things yeah. >> << >>
"I heard that. Nice try. You know you're not supposed to climb on the dressers and stuff. Anything that's taller than you is a no-no. Like for instance that tree," she glared, before setting the drinks on the table. "Sorry again about that Ran," she said with a smile, a comical sweatdrop appeared behind her head. "Anywho, here's some tea, and water, and milk for Jinx."
"Oooh yes! Milk!" he sighed happily, nabbing the glass and taking a sip. It left a milk moustache on him, and Eri laughed and handed him a napkin.
Methos smiled as Artemis showed her appreciation of his love of flowers. He gave her a wink and followed her through the maze, pointing out his different favorites. "I'm glad you like it," he replied, plucking a beautiful pink flower and gently placing it in Artemis's hair. "Not nearly as beautiful as you though."
Elsewhere in the hedgemaze, Deedle the kilin was roaming through the shrubbery, gnawing on a weed that had made it's way past Methos digilent 'weed plucking xD'. He sniffed the air, and an unfamiliar scent filled his nostrils. Of course it was Artemis, but he didn't know that. And so he curiously went to investigate.

"Oh, thank you." Ran said politely, taking up the saucer in one hand and tea cup in the other to sip. However, the casual politeness disappeared as Ran almost choked on her tea at seeing just what her dog was doing. Managing to swallow as she set the cup and plate down, Ran coughed loudly.Taking the glass of water, Bailey began lapping it up with his tongue without care for social norms. When Ran started choking he stopped, looking at her in worry.Breath coming in gasps, Ran looked mortified that her pet would embaress her so badly before their host.~*~*~*~ The deer's cheeks flushed, matching the blossom in her hair at his compliment. "Thank you, Methos..." She murmured quietly. The romantic mood was broken, however, when Artemis spotted the hedge before them rustling. Like any deer, she froze like a statue at it. For all she knew, it could be a squirrel or bunny.

Jinx stared at Bailey in amusement. He'd never seen a human drink like that. But Bailey was a dog of course, but he did LOOK human. Jinx cocked his head to the side in puzzlement. Even for one of D's pets...was that natural?
Eri was wondering the same thing as she took a seat on the couch. She smiled at the strange behavior though. She could tell her friend was embarassed. "You okay there Ran?" she asked worriedly as her friend's coughing finally seized. "You know, I don't think I've met any other animals from Count D's petshop that really..well...behave like animals. At least not as much as Bailey does. I wonder what it means," she thought aloud. "Or maybe I just haven't met many pets from there," she chuckled.
"Oh but there was that one. He gave me the heebiejeebies. Scarecrow, have you met him? The man who introduced me to Methos told me Scarecrow was a spider. He came out of the shadows at me and made it feel like there was something crawling on my arm," she continued on, trying to make conversation. She quite literally shivered though at the thought of spiders. "The springy ones, that unexpectedly leap at you! Terrible terrible terrible. Good thing Jinx catches them easily and puts them back out in the yard. I wonder how they find there way in here anyway...." she cutely cocked her head to the side and pondered.
Amazing how she could go off on tangents like that.
Jinx was used to it though, and rolled his eyes. "Back to the origin of the conversation. "Does that mean Bailey likes to track, and play fetch, and stuff too?" Jinx asked excitedly.
Eri smacked her forehead. This time it was her turn to be embarassed. "Jiiinx, that doesn't mean..you can just...play with him like a dog. He may not like it," she said, gently bopping the kitty on the head.
Jinx of course wrinkled his nose in detest at being 'bopped', and cutely pouted. "I was just asking." >>;

Outside, Methos stepped in front of Artemis to guard her from whatever was in the shrubbery. He'd be her knight in shinging armor!.....well..if she wanted him to be, that is.
But whatever was in that bush was making a loud crunching sound. Methos raised an eyebrow at what appeared before them.
Deedle came trotting out of the bush, munching on a flower and some leaves. He eyed Artemis. So thaaaaaaaat was what the new smell was. He ventured closer to investigate, sniffing at the air as he came near.
Methos laughed when he realized it was just the small kilin. "Don't worry Artemis. This is just Deedle. I think he sees this place as a free, all-you-can-eat buffet. But that's fine by me. He never eats TOO many of the plants. As long as he leaves a few of each kind, everything's good. And he's smart enough to stay away from the potentialy hazardous plants. Like those special Venus fly-traps I have. But nothing to worry about, I assure you," he said, holding her hand. "Now Deedle, this is Artemis. You be nice to her okay?"
Deedle nodded, apparently understanding.

"Well, you know how you're supposed to burn the inscense the Count gives you the first day you get your pet from him? Well.... Bailey was my pet long before the Count entrusted me with Artemis." Ran paused a moment to clear her throat, taking a sip from her drink and setting the cup down once more.
"Bailey didn't get to see inside the room after it'd been renovated for Artemis, and being a curious pup, he ventured in when the insence was burning. I think he must have spent the night in there, because when I saw him next he looked like this."Continuing to lap up his drink, Bailey looked quite content at the mention of several of Jinx's games. "Play?" He asked with a brightened expression, tail wagging slowly as if testing the waters. He didn't want to get his hopes up after all."No no, no play." Ran cooed softly to Bailey, petting his head gently.~*~*~*~ Chuckling to herself when she saw it wasn't a threat, Artemis squatted down to hold out a hand to the little kirin. "He certainly is cute." She mused, smiling fondly at the little fellow. "Not as cute as Methos though, I imagine..." The deer gave a faint smirk, glancing up at Methos.

Jinx felt bad for getting Bailey's hopes up. Perhaps they would eventually find something to do. In the meantime he scooted over to sit by the doggie. He listened intently as Ran told the story.
"Ah I see," Eri replied. "The incense is key....then..." she nodded as if she were thinking things over in her mind. The gears turned as everything fell into place. She had assumed the reason she saw Jinx and Methos the way they were was do some sort of magic or trick to the eyes. "It's INcense, makes sense.....heheh almost a pun," she replied lamely. After thinking about it, she supposed it wasn't really that funny. "I guess I lack in the comdey area," she chuckled.

Methos reddened at Artemis's statement. "W-well," he coughed, tugging at his collar nervously. "Perhaps, Perhaps."
Deedle liked this 'Artemis'. His tail wagged happily until he heard her comment. He snorted and shook his head in disagreement as if to say, "Um like no way! I am so totally cuter then him!" He held his head high and stuck his tongue out at the chimera before chomping on a rose to finalize his view on the situation.
In Deedle's mind: I PWN you Methos >>
Methos rolled his eyes at the little kilin. "I think it's obvious the cutest person out here, without a doubt is the lovely Artemis."
Now this, the kilin could agree too, even if it was just to be nice as he did think rather highly of himself; silly little bugger. He gnawed and bobbed head along with the rythm as he chewed.

Tail wagging, Bailey looked to Jinx hopefully. "Play?" He asked again, even with Ran petting his head, he still wanted to play instead of sitting around.
Humoring Eri's lack there of, Ran offered a polite chuckle. "It's all right." She looked to Jinx and Bailey fondly when she saw they were happy enough to keep one another entertained. "What about Jinx and Methos? Did you ever get to see them as animals?"

With a quiet laugh, Artemis stood to face Methos. Her cheeks tinted rosey from the compliment, making her emerald eyes all the more radiant in the light.
"Thank you Methos." She said softly with a gentle smile. Within three graceful strides she was beside him to take up his arm again, leaning against his side comfortabley.

"No. I never got to see either of them as animals," Eri replied in awe. "I'm kind of glad though. I think it would change the way we act around each other and get along," she replied with a smile. "It might have been a little more akward. But now I think of them as humans...or well, as close to human as you can get; and they're my equals." She turned to look at Jinx who blushed deeply, and nodded. "But I do wonder quite a bit what Methos would have looked like. He is a chimera afterall. Can't say I've seen many mythical creatures before in real life. Have you?" She fluttered her litte wings slightly as she leaned back against they cushiony furniture.

Methos could feel his heart skip a beat as Artemis leaned in against him. He smiled, satisfied, as he began to continue his tour of the maze; slowly leading her to the middle; where a fountain and more exoctic flowers would be found.
Even though he wasn't exactly 'invited' along to come with them, an equally happy kilin skipped after them, stopping here and there to smell the different plants. But he always kept the couple in sight, and scurried to catch up when they got too far away.

"Artemis... I think I saw her as a deer. Though the incesnse might not have taken effect yet." Ran murmured, though chuckled at Jinx's reaction to Erina. "Jinx would have been a lovely kitty though. Pity I couldn't see him like that." Reaching out, the woman scritched behind Jinx's ear affectionately.~*~*~*~ The deer nuzzled Methos's shoulder as she was led, eyes hooded as Methos's voice lulled her nearly to sleep. By the time they'd gotten to the fountain, Artemis was content to simply listen to Methos's heart beating.
