blind.in.every.other.eye Ta-kun7 Drum_Master_T blind.in.every.other.eye The Pizza Guy mavlar Ta-kun7 wow, I feel left out.I never played drums for school or anything. i never played for my school either but i was thinking about playing next year I'm gonna play my freshman year. (This upcoming one.)if your experience will be anything like my freshman year, bring homework and other stuff to do during band. Yeah, band has saved my butt many a time if I forget a homework assignment I just do it there. A hint for all freshmen- get to know the juniors. You really won't have much contact with the seniors but the juniors are usually really helpfull and they can be there for 2 years so you can get to know them a little more. Also, try out for everything. Even if you think you won't make it (for example, jazz band or pep band) try out anyways, the BD's like people who step up like that. I got in Jazz band as a freshy beating out some seniors just because I was the only freshy that stepped up and tried out and they were impressed that I was that good that young. alright, thanx for the advice. .... Does music class take up an elective? xd in my school it does yeah same here it uses an elective, but another good thing about music is that if you aren't an "artsy" person music counts as an art class that you need in high school to get into most colleges.

Last year in band (7th grade) I played at all times.
For the first concert (shitty christmas music) Bass Suspended Cymbal (with mallets) Bass
for the second Timpani Sus. Cymbal/Triangle Snare/Triangle
For the Third Drumset Xylophone
This year I'm going to be doing mainly set and xylophone, considering I'm the only one who can read notes. >_<

I just started playing percussion a year and a half ago and i've played a whole lot of stuff. let's see, i've played: Snare Bass Drum Tympani Xylo Bells A plethra of accessories(woodblock, triangle, whip, sleigh bells, suspended,...etc.) Tom-toms Tam-tam field drum
Well that's about it. At my school we don't have very many percussionists so we all play alot. But i like it, it helps me to read the music faster and better.

blind.in.every.other.eye ah, the days of middle school when you had to play many instruments on one song. that happened to me too. now, i'm in high school, and i found the one thing worse than getting stuck with everything; having virtually no notes. last year, two of my friends had to play songs in which they only played crash cymbal. one of them had two notes, and the other had only one. for my percussion ensomble, i got eight notes on the triangle. for our last consert of my freshman year, i was playing the oboe part on marimba for the second song, and it was cut out. so, one song i played suspended cymbal for four measures, and the other i played nothing. crying four measures of playing, and i had to get dressed up. one thing that really made me mad was i saw my name appear "chris" in the program. my real name is christopher, and that is what i prefer to be called. sure, my friends call my chris, but i don't mind, they're my friends. i don't like the idea of being in a tuxedo and being known as chris. personally, i think chris is an ugly name, at least compared to christopher. exactly what happened to me. we had a song with about...410 measures, and my friend played the chimes in the last 7... what was even more embarassing was that when i was playing snare on this one song for our winter concert, the bass drum player had rests while i had a roll, and he took my sticks and played the roll for me. in the actual concert...

When ever I play the toms or some uneducated person sees me playing the tenors, they always have to comment "Hey, Tom is playing the tomtoms!" like I haven't heard that a billion times before!! Then they laugh like they made the funniest joke in the world. Then I hit them with my drumstick!
